Ok cool. I tried the things on that other post but maybe I didn’t work it long enough. I’ll try that again before breakout the jaws of life.
Thanks for you help.
This old vise deal is cool. I never once thought of a vise as a masterpiece until a few days ago. Holy Smokes..... there’s some nice vises out there. That Wilton 8400 is something else. I hope a can find one in a yard sale for $3 like this one guy I read about.
Hell, I might even offer 5 bucks...
That was the wrong picture. This is the one I bought. I’m still waiting for it the be shipped to me.
That scared me because I know I didn’t buy an incomplete set.
Sorry Fellas. I just seen this.
Here’s some pictures.
I couldn’t look at the mediocre green paint job any longer
Hopefully the last picture you guys can see the top part of a 3 and a clear zero
Hey Fellas. Do any of you guys know anything about the
Craftsman tap and die set 5505 ???
I found an add from 1948 that has the 4505 but I can’t find anything on the 5505
I won an auction for a complete set. Looks darn near brand new so I’m happy to add them to my shop. I only need to tap 1...
Hey Franky. I know I’m a couple years late but where did you hook the puller to?.?
To take off the end cap, guard and flange together. I don’t want to mess anything up.
I hope someone sees this and can help a rookie out. Thanx
Hey y’all. Quick question if anyone is still here.
I just picked up a Rock Island no 92
Looks like half the top of a 3 then a zero on the slide. Was the 92 made around 1930????
I just spend another hour or so heating, pulling, soaking in blasters and still nothing.
There has to be a trick for this one.
Thank you all for try’n.
I’ll move on to this cool GE I picked up the other day. Looks old.
I need a disc sander. Not sure if She has enough juice though
Ok I’ve been out back for 3 hours now and can’t seem to figure it out.
If anyone has one of these or knows what to do please help me out.
I’m going to call it a night before I break something.
Thanx for your help Fellas.
We will accomplish this mission
Ok the flange is spinning freely now but there’s something holding it to the shaft.
I have blasters soaking in now.
It feels like a socket on a wrench. Is there a button that’ll retract a ball or something to release the flange???
I’m not going to mess with Her anymore until I get some answers...
Oh I thought high grit was fine and low would be corse. I didn’t want to take off to much material all at once. Ok I’ll try the 80 just for a second or 2.
It feels like there’s a set screw holding it on but I’ve looked everywhere and there isn’t. No key either. Let me try sanding again. I’ll...
Ok 40 mins with the sandpaper. 1st with 220 then 150. Should I keep going down to 80???
Ok do you think I can use a puller?? I’m not sure if that hub will break though
