Hey Fellas. Do any of you guys know anything about the
Craftsman tap and die set 5505 ???
I found an add from 1948 that has the 4505 but I can’t find anything on the 5505
I won an auction for a complete set. Looks darn near brand new so I’m happy to add them to my shop. I only need to tap 1 piece on a 1940 Waring FC1 Blendor Then They’ll be put up on the shelf to retire in piece. (Or until I need Them again)

Any info would be great.

Thanx Fellas.

Just a guess on my part, but when I bought my Craftsman set about 30 years ago, you had a choice to get either a carbon steel set or high-speed (HSS) set. I chose the latter as it is more durable for metal use. The part number difference may be the carbon vs. the HSS set. Take a look and see if they are marked high-speed or HSS

That was the wrong picture. This is the one I bought. I’m still waiting for it the be shipped to me.
That scared me because I know I didn’t buy an incomplete set.

That should be all USA and a good set. I have a 1960s cman "Kromedge" set that came in a light grey plastic case so your wood case must date a tad earlier. Mine has been ok for home use.
