    Bike Stand Mount

Recently got around to making a bench mount for a new Park clamp. I'm seriously limited on space so it's nice to hang it up when not needed. Used primarily for positioning frames when welding out.

    Older Matco box reconditioning project

I have the same box, but just the lower portion. It's stout and tough as hell. Almost sold it a while back but glad I kept it.

Good File handles / What do you use

Golf balls here. A nice brad point bit will get a clean undersized hole, place some epoxy in the hole and press the file in. Some say the epoxy is not needed and will stay tight without it. Cork stoppers from wine bottles make decent handles. I have those on my smaller files. As a funny...

    Old school lathe toolpost

I finished the table late last summer. Took me a while to get the taper cut into the legs and the miters square, but the finished product was well worth the time. Doesn't show much, but it's the only picture I have handy. Top is 3/8" (hot rolled, not ground or surfaced). Legs and frame are 1/4"...

    Old school lathe toolpost

Hey RJ, my obsessive search for a lathe paid off. I now have a very nice SB Heavy 10 sitting in the shop. Has a nice phaseII tool post with assorted holders, but I did find the rocker post in one of the drawers.

    Aviation snips rack

Good point, and aluminum is choice over the steel for files. But, I'm getting tired of compensating for not having a brake by fusing sheet together. I think it's around third on the list of needed shop toys.

    Aviation snips rack

Geez, I need to get a brake so I can make some of these racks you're turning out. Keeping snips near my files would be great, and the files need this same type of rack!!!

    Welding helmets

I'll chime in as a fan of old fashioned passive lens helmets with a gold lens. No flash, no batteries, no worries. I prefer the Jackson HSL 100, especially with the updated head gear. I keep two around; one with a 9 lens, and one with a 10. That way I don't have to worry about smudges...

    Handles for my files

Golf balls make nice file handles. I drill them half way through with a brad point, and set the tang in with epoxy.

    Used matco MB-740...fair price?

I have no idea what I'm selling. Looks like some kind of fancy dishwasher or awesome computer. Wait...where am I? Garage Journal? How did I get here??? Yes, I know what I have and I enjoy using it to look after my tools when I can not be there in person to lovingly caress them with my bare...

    Used matco MB-740...fair price?

That is my box...literally. Just an FYI, this will not be sold as a "u ****" deal.

Tools that allow you to beat book time (or work faster)

Not a time saver up front, but I always hand thread bolts back into their holes when possible. I do all of my work in the drive way and this makes reassembling way easier and the little ones have a harder time rolling bolts down the driveway or into the grass.

    WTB Tig Welding rig (small)

Do you only work with steel in gunsmithing? If that is the case look at the Miller Maxstar 150 STH/STL. They are DC only, run off 115 or 220v, around 15lbs and ridiculously small. They run new around 1.5k including everything but the bottle (fingertip amperage control). If you find one used...
