    Tapping into existing box

Hello, I've got a wall separating my living room and second bedroom. On the living room side, there's a TV on the wall, the mount is bolted to two studs. On the opposite side there's an electrical outlet on the correct side of one of those studs to pull a wire from and feed an outlet I'd like...

    Security cams and dvr

I don't know what newer Q-See/Lorex type kits in a box from Costco are like these days, but my experience with them from a few years ago wasn't great. I'd take a good look at Ubiquiti's camera lineup with the CloudKey Gen2 as the NVR.

    Under cabinet halogen to LEDs

Oh believe me, I'll notice the difference in the dispersion pattern :shocking:

    Under cabinet halogen to LEDs

Very nice, but I have one cabinet that's about 8" wide, best served by a puck light, not a strip like those.

    Under cabinet halogen to LEDs

Thanks for the tip, but not compatible with the Lutron Caseta dimmer.

    Under cabinet halogen to LEDs

Sounds like you've got low voltage between the LED diver and cabinet. I've got 120v right to the puck lights. Thanks though.

    Under cabinet halogen to LEDs

When I did my kitchen, I had under cabinet LEDs installed. 120v halogen bulbs. It was a typical Home Depot/Rona type kit that came with the round puck lights that plugged into a junction box - the Romex comes through the wall into a junction box mounted under the cabinet and provides a...

Max safe temperature for window AC?

As my balcony is partially enclosed, it doesn't get much air movement. Outdoors air temp was around 29. The AC heats up the deck area. I've tried a big box fan in one of the windows but that didn't drop the deck temp at all.

Max safe temperature for window AC?

It's physically the largest capacity unit that I can fit. It's a 12,000 BTU unit. Next step up is a 15,000. There are 18,000 BTU units but not on a 15A 120v circuit.

Max safe temperature for window AC?

I have a partially enclosed balcony with the window AC set up in the sliding door, blocked off above. Right now with the A/C going it's 102F on the balcony. (39C). I emailed LG and they stated there's no maximum outdoor operating temperature for this unit, but that sounds a bit fishy. Any...

Long term storage of portable A/C unit

I should clarify it's to be used as a backup in an equipment room. So having quick access to a spare is pretty important year-round. The manufacturer stated that they wouldn't recommend this scenario, but that could just be a case of CYA.

Long term storage of portable A/C unit

Just a quick check to see if anyone has any more thoughts on this? Thanks.

Long term storage of portable A/C unit

Hello, Long story short, we're considering purchasing a spare portable A/C unit as a backup in the event the active one packs it in. What's the risk to seals within the unit from sitting unused for possibly 2-3 years? I asked the manufacturer and they said it's not something they'd...

The all inclusive PhotoBucket issues, problems and solutions

Re: Photobucket Just Screwed Me Real Hard Photobucket has singlehandedly ruined a decade plus worth of threads across hundreds, if not thousands of forums. So many build logs and how-to guides effectively vanished overnight. What a shame.
