    Jr.'s Garage-MN 30x32x12 Frame Built Man Cave

It's an old abandoned gas station near where I used to live in the SW Kansas City metro.

    Jr.'s Garage-MN 30x32x12 Frame Built Man Cave

This will sound bad, but I'm not sure. The builder knows I want maximum interior ceiling height, so I need to talk further with him on that. Do you have recommendations?

    Jr.'s Garage-MN 30x32x12 Frame Built Man Cave

Here's a virtual floor plan I put together, and it's amazing how fast it fills up with a 4 post lift, a few benches, and a bar. Here's the concrete progress today:

    Jr.'s Garage-MN 30x32x12 Frame Built Man Cave

Thought I'd capture here what I'm calling 'Jr.'s Garage' since my Dad was a 'Jr' in his family with the same name as his Dad, and when I work out in a shop I tend to think of him as he passed away almost 10 years ago. Anyway, this is my second rodeo building a detached garage/shop/man cave as I...

    2 Post Lift placement recommendations

Looking for suggestions on the best location to put a 2 post lift so that I can tell the contractor where to reinforce the floor for the post locations. I put together this plan thinking the left side (top of the pic) makes the most sense to pull cars straight in for the lift with enough room...

Anyone familiar with EPS Building-Solid Core Buildings?

I'm going to put up a 30X32X12 pole barn for a shop/man cave, and someone on a Facebook garage page recommended looking into EPS Buildings: http://www.epsbuildings.com/solid-core.php Turns out, they are VERY competitive with the steel outer/OSB/styrofoam/OSB construction method. They are $8-9K...

    14x20 Mini-Man Cave

That's awesome! Thanks for putting that together. It does look a little funky with the 12 interior ceiling height, but it will make it feel more open inside, that's for sure. One of my concerns is that I won't have much room on the sides when the car is in it (as you pointed out)...

    14x20 Mini-Man Cave

Thanks for the feedback. Here are my priorities at this point with the build: 1. Have a space to park the Chevelle and work on it occasionally and be able to have it torn apart, then walk away and leave it like that without having to move it around to get the wife's car in the garage. lol 2...

    14x20 Mini-Man Cave

I posted on here a few weeks ago I was going to build a 26'W X 16'D garage, then got some life changing news when a couple of weeks ago our daughter's boyfriend asked me for her hand in marriage. Nice that respect and honor still exist! He's a good guy, and they're good together, so it was an...

    26'W X 16' Deep Detached Garage Project

Thanks again. Yes, I've given the engagement 'approval' which isn't an easy thing for a Dad to let go... but he's a good young man. I've put a call into the city codes department, so will see if they allow metal buildings. Did you have a particular metal bldg. manufacturer that you went with...

    26'W X 16' Deep Detached Garage Project

Yeah, I measured the car in the current garage, and I'll have about 2' in front of it so it's tight for anything other than parking. If I pull the engine or do anything like that I'll have to back it out a bit, but I plan on having a work bench to the side with 4' on either side of the car...

    26'W X 16' Deep Detached Garage Project

Thanks for the comments. I'd consider a metal building, but I don't think the city would approve it since I'm in the city limits. And... our daughter's boyfriend asked me for her hand in marriage this past weekend, so looks like I need to downsize the project to divert some funds for a future...

    26'W X 16' Deep Detached Garage Project

Put down the deposit today so the plans will be generated for review by the city! :D No feedback from anyone on the forum? I guess I have it all figured out. lol

    26'W X 16' Deep Detached Garage Project

I took a few pics of the back yard marked off with flags to get an idea where the building will go. And yes... the big oak tree is going to have to go. It's a shame as we like the trees, but it's smack dab in the middle of where I need to turn the corner to get into the garage.

    26'W X 16' Deep Detached Garage Project

Thanks Bill. Yeah, I was thinking 2 post lift, but thought it might have to be angled a little. That's when I start thinking I don't need the 12' inside ceiling height and could save quite a lot by going 8' ceiling, but would probably regret it later. Those that know me will understand if...
