    The repurposing thread

I needed some cabinets for my utility room and there are a lot of nice entertainment centers available for cheap, so... I picked up this one, mostly due to its height: Bit of careful circular saw jenga and it turned out better than i was hoping. The two side cabinet bottoms became a 24"...

    Ok location for a sub-panel?

If you go with "A" keep in mind the panel doors swing when you mount it. Try to make it swing up against the wall rather than out into the room.

    Occupancy sensor for shop lighting

I use them for "walk" lighting in the garages. Using multiple motion switches all feeding the same switch leg so the room is covered no matter whats in the way (vehicles).

Or that uv damaged extension cord just resting on a knock out. The 30a breaker is surely keeping it safe.

Any reason someone would install an outlet but cut the ground off?

Reason, lazy and or cheap. I found a case where a water softener company needed to add an outlet, so they just cut into the nearest romex. The hot and neutral were just long enough to hook on the outlet. No such luck on the ground, so cut them off. That circuit happened to be 20a for the...

    Garden/Weed Sprayer

I have one of these Solo 424 and have HATED it since first use. The method for admitting makeup air is faulty making it very easy to spill out the top. if you fill it, you'll end up wearing most of it. I only put 2 gallons in mine and even then you have to be careful about how you move or...

    Whole house humidifiers

Thats a pretty high target. Your house will need to be pretty well sealed to get that high.

POE cameras in a detached garage

Should work. You're getting into a lot of switches daisy chained together though. It'll work, but managing all of that when there is an issue might become a pain. I started with unify products this summer and its nice to have the different pieces all show up in one management interface.

    Bathroom remodel question.

Not a fan of tile in a shower for longevity and maintenance reasons. Cultured marble panels and bottom pans seem like a much better solution. Master bathroom in current house has a cultured panels and a base plate from the 90s and they still look good. I'll I've had to do for it is new silicone.

    What motion sensor???

x2 on trying it. A lot of motion sensors have dim up and dim down and LEDs are like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates when it comes to dimming.

    Sub-panel and future proofing?

adding solar to anything but the main panel comes with some extra requirements that might be doable or not. Utility here wants an external disconnect within X feet of the meter. They "can" approve variances, but i haven't gotten that far yet. Also there will be some limitations in the main...
