    Snap On Repo Traded Tools?

"If Snap-on credit is involved, which they likely would be for a financed toolbox sale, trust me, you signed something that gives them the right to repossess. It's called a UCC agreement. Look it up, it's a secured loan.". It took 24(?) posts before someone hit it. The rights of the creditor...

    What's in Fluid Film

Pure lanolin has long been used by machinists to prevent the formation of rust on tools (e.g., gage blocks). I use it on tools that I do not plan to use for awhile. It has the added benefit of softening the skin on your hands.

    Kennedy Stack help

I paid some guy $250 for the top chest and bottom roller cabinet shown (w/o the added side hang-on cabinet) about a year ago. They looked almost unused. I have several Kennedy boxes, chests, and roller cabinets. They are excellent quality, and surprisingly inexpensive on the used market.

    Good quality Tap

You are probably breaking taps because you are applying a bending load to the tap while twisting it. Try using one of a number of tap guides that are commercially available. Like this one: http://www.flexbar.com/shop/pc/HAND-TAPPER-REAMER-W-2-SETS-JAWS-85p3777.htm

    Spreading the Bonney affliction!

I simply made the general statement about consolidation of the tool industry starting in the 1960's. During this time, and forward, all of the independents were being bought out. Symington-Wayne (the gas pump people) bought S-K, then sold to Dresser (another oil tool supplier), Utica was...

    steel ruler & compass recommendation

Look for an engine-ruled scale. This will permit you to set/measure the dividers using the scale. Some "quality" shop rules are simply painted or litho'ed, and will not allow a measurement to be easily transferred.
