I've read that they chew up the pulleys, especially aluminum ones.

Got my K3 chuck key today!!! Worked like a charm!!! Next I need to tackle new 21" belts as the old ones are torn and frayed. Been reading that this is a bit of an effort but good info out there. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the advice. I really don't have a need to remove it at this time. Maybe when I get around to restoring the DP. Good to know about the spanner wrench though, I could see the tool in my mind but didn't know the name. I'll keep my eye open for one in case I need it in the future.

Thanks for the help. Would you know how to get the chuck off? I don't see any set screws, only the collar above the chuck that will turn about 1/4. Looks like it needs a wrench with pins.

I'm an idiot. Its pressed into the chuck p/n: Jacobs 6A 33 taper, cap 0-1/2 Is there a standard key for this chuck? I'm not really sure how to get the chuck off to bring it someplace to size up a key. Any help there is greatly appreciated. Note: first drill press ever and this is an old one...
