Appreciate the thoughts on the moss. Surprisingly that roof still doesn’t leak but I think I’m just going to replace it in the spring. Probably add some vents then. I was going to use these attic baffles to keep the insulation away from the roof being able to vent by the soffit.
Ok good to know about Rockwool not compressing. Will R-13 fiberglass compress into a 2.5” cavity adequately without popping off drywall?
My current plan is just to not sore any weight in the loft area. Our homes were built in the 50’s in our neighborhood and at my dad’s place which is right...
Looking for advice regarding Rockwool vs fiberglass. Per the recommendation from @kngelv I plan to use R-23 Rockwool for the ceiling. My 2x4 walls have R-6 one inch polyiso foam board, so I have effectively 2.5” to work with. Originally I had planned to compress R-13 fiberglass batts which...
It’s done! I ended up putting in 2” PVC. It’s kind of iffy getting the hydraulic hose through with the quick connect on the end so I’ll likely remove it, then fish it through and add it back on the other end. Very happy with how this turned out. The guys did a great job, one had 40 years of...
That’s interesting…I was originally going to use a single piece of water pipe I had laying around and bend it that way. Maybe I’ll go back to that. So no concern with introducing more opportunities for cracks?
Just wanted to update you guys on my lift install. After drilling through the concrete I was pretty sure I had about 3” so I found a concrete company to come out and reinforce it. They’ve got it ready for some more rebar then pour 4,000 PSI concrete tomorrow with fiber reinforcement. It’s 3x12’...
Great thoughts. I agree. I went out there today and was looking at it and I don’t think I want to tear out those rafters ties. Got a quote to spray foam the 12x30 section and it was $2,750 which I don’t want to spend. I like the sounds of that Rockwool. If I put that across the whole ceiling...
I’m in Southwest MI so I have Menards. I do like the look of that metal. And like the idea of easier to remove. Only negative I can see is more $ and loss of fire protection.
