Does that Icy patch on the gound get sun?
If so, shovel/chop that snow out of there after every snowfall so the driveway absorbs some sun and heats up.
We deal with a similar issue here in Minnesota. The sun might not keep it perfectly clear, but it helps. The better you remove the snow, the...
If you want to park the trailer straight in, you will need a bunch of space in front of the garage to maneuver.
Remember, when backing a trailer, the front of the truck will swing wide out of the trailers path.
My sketch is probably not perfect to scale :willy_nil but I think you get the point...
For the 48 x 33 pcs I would definitely go vertical. In the shops I worked in, we bought 4 x 10's of most steel so the small leftovers went in the vertical "drop rack" we could store and retrieve many sizes and thicknesses based on what we needed.
If you have to cut it down to size anyway, don't...
Another vote for a backpack sprayer here. I've run hundreds of gallons through mine over the years spraying weeds in my rock areas and getting rid of dandelions in the lawn.
Mine are 20 years old Swissmex brand, but I have no idea of the quality of current sprayers.
There are companies that re-tread wheels and It will cost WAY less that new.
I used to get rollers for industrial machines re-covered from a few places.
Not sure where you are located, but maybe one of these is near you or there might be a similar place bear you...
That's basically a thick washer with OD = ID of tube and ID = shaft size.
Buy some 3/16 plate or bar stock and cut to closest size with hole saw.
Grind to fit and weld it up.
It wont have to be perfect, so you could even free hand it with a plasma or saw or grinder.
If you are just going to keep them in your garage to have an organized supply, and of the cheaper stuff will work.
BUT, if you are going to take the organizers out of the garage and use them as portable organizers, you'll need to buy some of the better ones.
I have the cheap ($10) Harbor Freight...
Nothing more annoying than a sagging/falling down gate.
I did mine out of 2 x 2 steel tube with cedar fence boards attached.
A bit over 14ft wide and solid as a rock.
Might be overkill for your situation, but you can see the basic framework in the pics. For your gate, you could probably...
Nice looking rack! Looks better than factory built.
Mines a bit "rougher".
Mine is built into a full wall of shelves and has full shelves for every other row.
On other similar threads people have wondered if the cases might sag without support if they are overloaded, but I've never seen an...
Sounds similar to the gate I built 15 years ago. The city didn't want to give me a permit for one wide gate because "they never work". Once I showed them my plans, they grudgingly allowed it. Now they use mine as an example for people that want wide gates!
If possible, add some adjustability to...
You might want to clarify what kind of wall your contractor is calling riprap. In my mind, your picture is a "Boulder retaining wall" and is not cheap.
Riprap as I'm familiar with is smaller rock dumped over sloping ground to prevent erosion .... very often used on shorelines.
Still works, but...
Without a grade stamp, that lumber could be anything. I would trust it more if it had a stamp.
Some reading for you if interested:
https://www.wwpa.org/western-lumber/structural-lumber/finger-jointed
Finger-jointing is not rocket science, but there are definitely process checks that need to...
While you have access, add a 2 x 4 to widen the sill plate so it looks more like the picture in PCustoms post. This will add something for the joist to rest on and it will cover the holes in the block. Mice love the hollow blocks!
Cool video and great results.
As for her mods to the "rafters", she also took out all of the webs (Red arrows in picture) which could cause problems down the road. Although she was in California and probably doesn't have to deal with snow loads, I'd be concerned about the missing webs without...
