I have a repair shop with a 11x9 wide overhead door on a electric door opener
My issue is I need a device for the summer that will
Keep stragglers out while we are working.
Everyone peeks in and wants to chat. What can I use besides keeping it closed?
I have seen the screens that come down but it would be large Looking for something that would come out from the side electrically when we need to drive out
A super dark screen would work. Maybe 9x6.
There is room on side for it to move right on a motor
Thanks!

I would use a sign that tells people to keep away and stay out firstly. If that isn't working then perhaps fencing and gating of some type? It might not be reasonable to think about but may actually cost less than some of those garage screen doors. The other solution is some kind of a rolling gizmo that you can deploy in front of the door far enough away to still have open space for air to come around but completely block the view of your garage. Not sure if you have ever seen how some of the fixer upper episodes did there reveals but they literally had like a rolling billboard of the before picture paste on it that they would park in front of the home owner and as they had their eyes covered they would roll it away to reveal the "after" project. Pretty sure with a welder, some box tube, and some other simple supplies you could build one that parks on the side of your place and can be deployed pretty easily. To be honest I've been considering something my own self. I have kids roaming around the neighborhood that get fascinated by the things they see in my garage and I know they are kids now but eventually they turn into teenagers that have sticky fingers or bad friends with them and I'd rather not advertise my taste in toys.

I'm thinking something like on the link below but maybe a little more robust to withstand wind blowing on the device. You could even go so far as to maybe make it out of wide format mesh so it still is breathable.

I'm also looking for a mesh solution that isn't a pain in the *** for humans but it is for bugs because once the spring, summer, and fall hits in Central texas the mosquitos go nuts as well as the june bugs, and other weird bugs that make my skin crawl, lol.

Mass exit going on the last couple of years. Going downhill rapidly.

Kind of a shame. I spent every summer there from when I was born till I was 20 (1950-1970) My first automotive job was working in the body shop at Somerville Buick one summer :) I am still up there a few times a year at least. Have an Aunt that lives up on the hill by Malden hospital and cousins that live near Tufts and in Winchester.

Next time I am planning on coming up I will get your address and stop by and say hello :)

Awesome ideas. Thanks

I really need something electric, I love that gate idea
Just wish it had a electric motor

I'm half way there. I just put a code door handle on shop door yesterday. Amazing how a sales man will walk through office into shop on their own just to hand a brochure

Would a chain link sliding driveway gate work if you placed it right in front of the door?
