I've done a bunch of research and haven't found a clear answer on how to identify an OEM Champion pump vs a clone.
Specifically RV15A, R15B, and R30 pumps. I've seen some black painted pumps being sold in the used market, and it seems that they're probably non-champion clones but I was hoping...
Thanks for all the responses. I'm definitely going to run it to verify the oil leak.
And I am for sure guilty of oooh-ahhing at HP numbers. (I thought Dayton was honest though! LOL)
Good point re: wiring, but to be fair It was a mobile horizontal machine, so I'm guessing it was designed to run...
So I guess compressor problems aren't too interesting... I get it. I'm on my own on this one. =-)
But alas, for the next man that follows behind me looking for answers I have located some.
These "919" machines were made by Devilbiss. Now better known for their famous spray guns, but previously...
There are "some"... I missed an opportunity on a horizontal 26 gallon 6.5 hp (yes, that's a 6) belt drive that produced 12 cfm at 40 psi.
It was a Dayton, it looked new even. It was posted for 225.00.
I've been beating myself up ever since. What you find on MP these days is pretty much trash...
Ok, according to vintage machinery the "919" model number prefix indicates this machine was either made by devilbiss or ingersoll rand for Sears-Craftsman: http://vintagemachinery.org/craftsman/manufacturers.aspx
I should add, (if it isn't obvious due to the shroud), that this is a belt driven...
I picked up this air compressor recently and it appears to be leaking oil from the head gasket.
The specs claim unreasonably high scfm for what I expect from a 3 hp (10.3 @ 40 psi), so I thought I'd try to keep it going.
I've been looking around and mostly what I can find is the head gasket but...
