Should I fill rhino ramps with expanding foam?

It's a great idea, as it expands it will swell out the bottom. Just cut off the excess with a hand saw.

Another exciting round of "what's that tool!!"

Looks like a home made crimper for shrinking sheet metal.

What are these tools? Grandpa knew but I don't...

Looks like your grandpa was a machinist, lots of lathe tooling.

    Wall mounted storage racks

I picked up some stainless laundry racks at a surplus sale ($25 each), each one had 8 X 5'X1' sections. Worked great for me, a little easier to see into the shelf with the wire. Don't rule out the high storage, great for those seldom used items. Here's a pic:

what do you use for grinding welds ?

I use a grinding stone on my 5" angle grinder, start with that and move up to a flap disc if you want it purdy. The flap disks are great but I find they burn up a lot quicker than stone (and are 2X the $$ too).

Fold-down pegboard or tool storage... anyone tried it?

I think you could make it work assuming the structure is adequate ( or you don't overload it). If the new weight is high enough on the door the counter balance should help to keep it open vs wanting to close all the time. Hangers that work horizontally and vertically wouldn't be a big deal...

    How'd I do?

Assuming it's in good shape, I think you got an OK deal on it. Tooling can get expensive and when you start wanting the add ons (rotary tables, etc) hold on to your wallet. Hey some people golf and will spend as much per hour as you'll spend enjoying the rebuild, learning, playing with the mill...

    Lets see your workbench

Or have it catch fire. Actually, I never left it there when using it storage spot only.
