Agree with cybrdyke, canopy is too bright for the garage at such a low ceiling. Some underground garage will use the canopy as light source, most people dont use canopy for household garage.
I think T8 tube would be fine for your garage.
Thanks for warning, although I've already on the LED path. After all, LED is safer, at least compared with what you said. What's more, the energy savings will quickly pay for the difference in cost.
PS: Bypass ballast LED light can save the money for replacing old ballast, Its a good deal.
LED light is good,no flicker, frindly to human eyes. I like High-CRI LED light, it can better restore the object original appearance, make it more comfortable for us to read and work.
Hi-bay is brighter than tubes,even they take more money,I think it’s worth it.This Hi-bay can change beam angle (60°/90°/120°) by replacing lens.Also,the light is much softer than other lights.
