outdoor motion security lights

I have had very good experiences with fixtures by RAB. The products usually last a long time, but when they do fail, RAB has great customer service, and is very good about sending replacement parts.

I'm guessing that lack of responses could be because we dont understand.
Do you mean a beam angle of 180 degrees from the light? From each light or from both lights combined?
And do you mean you want two separate lights?

I think he wanted the sensors to detect motion 180 deg... most are 160-ish I think...

Call RAB, their customer service people can sort out what you want, then give you a part/model number. They have more models/options than those you can find in the hardware store, plus they can answer questions that the teen-ager in the store can't even understand.

I got a motion sensor light from ebay but didn't last 2 weeks. I'm thinking of getting this maxsa motion activated spotlight though still looking for other good reviews or recommendations.

I have used the cheap ones and they only last for a few years. Either buy good ones or buy cheap ones and plan to change them as needed.

I have a few of those Cotsco LED motion lights as well. They work quite well and are very bright. I ran 14/3 wire between 2 of them and rewired them so that if either sensor detects motion then both units light up. You can't move anywhere in our backyard at night without it lighting up like a football field. Another pair covers the driveway. I also have a switch wired between each set so that it can revert to individual control with the flip of a switch. Makes it easy to test the sensors, adjust them, etc.

If you want a camera in the mix, I've enjoyed my Ring Spotlight - good coverage and range, awesome camera and cloud based image store. Mostly you just catch racoons wandering around and the odd spider, but it has a motion detect based spotlight that I'm sure would deter other types of wanderers.

I got tired of crappy motion lights. Started building my own with separate motion sensor and light head.

In this example, I used a 50W flood head and a motion sensor and a cast round box. Bought all parts off Amazon for less than $50 for this light.

Could use smaller heads or different motion heads. Roll your own usually makes a better fixture.

Plan to make up some for the soffits around the house. Will make 6 fixtures. Will probably use a 20W head x2.
