    Building Permit Issues

Even if the inspector is mistaken it is money well spent. The inspector will win or delay your project. Been in the same boat you will need him before he needs you sorry just the way it is. Could be a lot worse.

    Insulating Garage Floor

Yes you should. The use of 4x8 sheets of foam will help keep moister from leaching into the concrete, will also help keep the concrete from freezing when not heated and that will help with cracking. If you lay on the floor it will also be warmer. Most people do not realize that most of the...

    30x48x14 pole barn

The biggest thing to think about in a pole building is to seal it up and make it air tight. Fiberglass will not do that spray foam will. I am in Michigan also and it get very windy in the winter. Good luck on your build.

New Barn Build - Insulation help needed

You need to do what fits your budget. I had 3" of spray foam on the celling and 1" on the walls to seal the building up then framed between the post with 2x4s and added r13 fiberglass. Also plastic 2" foam then more plastic under the cement. I run a radiant tube heater and works very well for...

Closed Cell VS Open Cell spray foam insulation?

Building is 40x40x14 with metal roof and sides the foam is sprayed directly on the metal. I am using a 30' radiant tube heater. The only loss of heat is in the two overhead doors. 12x12 and a 10x10 hope this helps.

    Rat Wall?

Another option for rat protection is to cut the left over siding into 2 foot long strips and dig down on the outside of the building and install. Then with the trench opened up that is a good time to also install 2" foam board to keep the frost from pushing under the slab. This will also help...

    Rat Wall?

You will need to ask the building dept. where you are located. Where I am located they changed the rat wall requirement so you would not have to put one in. The main reason is that the wall was only 24" deep and caused some trouble with the frost heaving the slab. Good luck on your build.

    thinking about temporary storage

I have the same one the reviews are right on. Frame is good if it sits in the sun you will put a new cover on it each year it will tear where the cover hits the support posts. Just put on my third cover. I do brush off the snow every time I am in Michigan. Hope this helps.
