I got this drill refurbed off ebay in oct 2011 ago along with a 2nd battery, charger & bag directly from Porter Cable it was 45 bucks , at the time the battery itself was that price ! I didnt have high hopes when I purchased it but after I got it I wish that I had purchased a few of them...

I am not proposing to skip the part of doing it right ;) I meant to do this in addition, I dont see any issue with this causing problems its just an extra security precaution. It would be best if this additional plate was welded to the base but that would make it far to complex to move around...

I was wondering about the baseplate idea also, maybe to put a piece that is 3' x 3' or something and then to permanently leave that mounted to the floor and then after to mount the maxjax over top of that. Call me paranoid :dunno:
