I grew up with SK wrenches and sockets. Dad bought a full set of 1/2" drive sockets and combo wrenches from 7/16 - 1 1/16 when he left home to go work in upper New York in probably 1953 or somewhere close after. I cracked one of the sockets in the late 90's and took it to an auto parts store...

Lot's of Proto here in east TX, figure from the oilfields. Can find them in most any pawn shop. Picked up several sockets for .15 - .25 each, and wrenches for around a buck apiece recently.
