Wireless, but not wi-fi. I completely missed that single word in the OP's original post. 🤦♂️
I need to follow my own advice, "reading is hard...reading comprehension is harder" as my signature says...
My apologies!
Here's what I have used in my parts washer (it's a bucket heater like mentioned above). It worked quite well to get the water up to about 115 F or so.

I used something like this container below by removing the spigot and cutting the hole large enough for the cartridge. Then the hose goes in the other side.
Thus, the hose and the cartridge are all contained, and I have no more drops on my floor to slip on! The carry handle is handy as well.
I got a clone of the Vevor clone last Christmas. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09NMYRGZK/?tag=atomicindus08-20
It's heating capability is much better than the little 2.5 L one I started out with from HF. I've used it to clean mainly small engine parts and carbs. I just use Dawn and warm...
I found some manuals on the B+S website once I put a zero in front of the first 5 digits of the model number (so 082902-0176 is what I typed in).
Attached is an owner's manual and a parts manual that I got off the site. Hope they are useful to you!
The popping and backfiring sounds like it is running lean (and I know you talked about adjusting the screws already).
Sometimes those old carbs can be cleaned and cleaned again several times and still not run correctly. I've gone the route of finding a replacement carb on Amazon and haven't...
Any chance you have the license plate from the previous owner? I used the old plate on my pickup box trailer and went to the state DMV site. Was able to find the VIN on the trailer that way, which helped with getting it titled and registered in my name.
I know you said plates aren't required...
I use Dawn when cleaning carbs in my ultrasonic cleaner and motorcycle parts in my parts washer. It has worked well. I do try to clean off as much external grease and grime beforehand, either mechanically or chemically.
I do use Palmolive in my window-cleaning concoction...2 gallons hot...
When we got rid of our old dishwasher, I kept the rack used for silverware. Looks kind of like the one shown below.
Funnels get set into the rack, and I have the rack set on an old metal baking sheet to catch drips. No mess, no fuss!
Very nice additions to the workshop!
What's the capacity on your new ultrasonic cleaner? I have been looking at something larger than the 2.5 L one I currently have from HF.
