Pick a cordless platform for my father.

I own and operate a small landscaping business focused on aesthetic gardens and the like. Have been using Black & Decker tools, both 18/20 volt and 40 volt, for several years. They have worked well. However, for any significant leaf blower work, especially if not on a hard surface, your...

Vintage tools -- collect or actually use?

When I'm working against the clock I generally use newer tools. If I break something, I'll buy a replacement. When I'm working in my home shop and not in a hurry, I enjoy taking my time and using old tools, some of which my Dad gave me. The old tools remind me of working with my Dad on...

How old were you when you first bought 'expensive' tools?

Bought a used 1965 Harley Sportster when I was in high school (1969). And so it began. Started off with SK stuff from the local auto parts store, then escalated to Snap-on when I got out of high school. I still have all the Snap-on and some of the SK from back then. Mostly I still buy...

    Motorcycle carb sync/tuning tools.

Morgan Carbtune out of the United Kingdom is a great tool. Google it and comes right up. Dealership techs have mostly gone to electronic tools but last I looked they are spendy. Carbtune isn't cheap but works really well and has no batteries.

    SK 42470 Ratchet

I have a handful of SK ratchets. Oldest one is a flat handle. Some are looser than others. All work great. Handle diameter of the round ones is not the same over time but the difference is inconsequential. They're great ratchets. Lube them once in awhile and they'll last a very long time before...

Can i save this hammer handle

Where I live wood hammer handles always dry out in winter and swell back in summer. Soak the hammer head in a 50/50 antifreeze mix for a couple days. The moisture swells the head and the antifreeze doesn't evaporate. Might have to do this every month or so in the winter.

Which mechanics stethoscope has the best build quality and sound quality?

I've used the Lisle for years. Always works well.

    Blue Point MT586B Manual

I have a Blue Point MT586B multimeter but can't find my manual for it. Can anyone tell me how to find a replacement manual on Snap on's website? Thank you!

Snap on F710BK 3/8 Stubby Ratchet Repair

My Snap on F710BK 3/8 stubby ratchet is only a 20 tooth. Kind of course for the kinds of things a stubby ratchet is suited for. Can it be converted to 30 tooth? What Snap on repair kit would work? Tks

    SK deep sockets shorter???

SK's 3/8 Dr deep sockets in the smaller sizes are shorter than most other brands. I bought mine specifically for that reason. I use them as my go to sockets rather than a shallow. Very rarely have I needed the longer deep sockets like the Craftsman length.

    Maxx Leverage Cheater Bar

I saw Eric's video. I like the idea for my truck box where a set of short combination wrenches could be made more versatile with the Maxx Leverage tool.

    1 3/16 wrench

I have Snap-On 1-3/16 combination wrench and socket that I've had for thirty+ years. I think I bought them to fit one nut on a 1965 Harley XLCH Sportster. Clutch hub if I remember right. Bike is long gone but I still have the tools.

Super-Exciting News for SK Day!! 9/23 and 9/24

Re: Super-Exciting News for SK Day!! I think this is great! Any date works but I do agree with the idea that it would be better if it were more than just one day. Too many schedules and too much travel make one day or else things painful.
