    What size window unit?

In the NC Sandhills, where it's plenty humid and high 90s to 100 in the summer I cool my 24x30 pole barn with 12' to the bottom of the open rafters with a 24k window unit and a 2 ton home package unit heat pump. I also only have the bubble wrap stuff and mine has no shade at all. On the...

What are some affodable, but decent, R134A A/C gauges?

At work I just use the shop's recovery machine. For home use I have a set from Hf. They work just fine. My set were older and did not have the screw knob to lock the quick connect fitting. When they started giving problems I bought a set of replacement hose end quick connects from my Mac...

    4-Post Lyft safety

I've seen it before on many different brands of lifts. I like to install a disconnect switch just above the motor so I can kill power if it happens. I also use it to kill power once lowered on the locks if I have a jackstand under the hitch on a pickup for example. It keeps me from getting...

    Generic A/C questions

I don't know. The txv setup seems to cool better and it's smaller to package. Like said above o tube systems need a fairly large accumulator after the evaporator. Most newer cars have the reciever/dryer as one of the side tanks of the condenser, and it's smaller physically. That means...

asymmetirical 2 post lift - Can you back into it?

I have lifted vehicles backed in on asymmetric lifts before, Taurus, a few buicks, etc. I think that would be fine so long as you get the center of gravity right. I'd not try to lift a 3/4 ton pickup like that, but a 3000 lb car no problem. Don't forget to account for the weight shift...

    Generic A/C questions

In my experience the US manufacturers, Ford and GM specifically went to orifice tube systems in the late 70s to early 80s. They were simpler than the over complicated pre 70s systems (some had a valve on both the inlet and outlet to the Evap!) , clutch could be cycled as you said to control...

Ford spark plug tool, best one?

We use the first lisle tool at work. Never had an issue getting them out. I don't even care if they break off anymore because it's just an extra 5 minutes per plug if they do, and I'm not flat rate, lol. I've had decent luck getting them out whole by having the engine just cool enough to...

    adding links to youtube

The way ive done it easiest is to click share on the YouTube video page. It will show you an abbreviated link something like www .youtu.be/xxxxx where the x's are random number and letters. Right click that and click copy, then come back here and right click and click paste in the message...

    Trailer wheel bearing question

File it then sand with emory cloth until the new bearing is a light (finger only) press fit. Once you can slide the bearing on and off with just your fingers its good to go. It doesn't necessarily have to have every imperfection removed. Sent from my HTC6545LVW using Tapatalk

How do you tag electrical connectors?

This is what I do when I build a harness, such as for a fuel injection swap. I use blue or green painters tape and a ultrathin point sharpie. When youre done the tape is real easy to rip off with usually no residue or pieces left over. Sent from my HTC6545LVW using Tapatalk

Best Tools to Get You Out of Trouble

I've never thought to use an engraver like that, but alot of times if a broken bolt isnt siezed up you can use a really sharp center punch at an angle on the edge of the bolt in the loosen direction and the bolt will turn out til you can put pliers on it. Even a spring loaded center punch...

    Dropping vehicles off lifts

ALI, the automotive lift institute who certifies lifts, produces a book with lifting points for most vehicles. Factory service manuals also usually list lift points. A lot of newer cars have arrows stamped into the frame or unibody pointing out lift points. Biggest thing is think safe...

Anyone else a Sun Equipment junkie??

They did. The sun machine at work has a clamp for a wire, a clip on lead for hei, and a clip on lead for Honda or Toyota with the internal coil. We only use it a few times a year anymore. Sent from my HTC6545LVW using Tapatalk

    HF drum brake tool kit

This is the only brake tool I use other than an adjusting spoon. Been a mechanic for 20 years. I hate the plier tool, its never worked right for me. I use needle nose visegrip pliers to stretch the springs if i cant use the pictured tool. I use regular needle nose pliers to install and...
