I acquired this tank from my work over two years ago, and decided at the beginning of this summer it was time to start building it. I had always wanted to use an air tank as they have a much thicker wall than an oil tank. This one is 5/32 thick.
I had it all drawn up in solidworks, but when a...
My wife found another vise for me at a yard sale today. It's marked "Bloomfield manufacturing" A quick check on the internet looks like it might be one of the first products made by them called the "Anvil vise drill tool". Bloomfield manufacturing is now the Hi lift Jack company which makes the...
I have searched jeffmoss26 but all I come up with is links to threads that he has probably posted in, but are more than a hundred pages. Please give me some tips to find a member directly for a pm! I'm still a new guy here!
I received a reply from somebody on the vintage lock forum I joined. They attached a scan from a 1928 catalog that shows a lock quite close to mine, but he thinks mine be slightly older. It's worth nothing but it's very cool.
Thanks everybody for all the info. I never knew the lock museum existed in Terryville, I am going to take trip there soon to check it out. The Wikipedia page was very interesting as well. Thanks again. I will post again when I find out how old this thing is. TM
Maybe this is the wrong category to post this in because it's not actually a tool, but maybe somebody can steer me in the right direction. My brother and I were cleaning out an old barn for somebody here in central CT. last Sunday when we found this lock. With a little more digging in the box we...
Thanks everybody, makes perfect sense but I would have thought a large gage block set would have been sold with empty spaces where these would have been included or not.
The catalog page is priceless, Thanks. TM
I recently found a very small Pratt & Whitney gage block set at a pawn shop.
It is in very good condition. The case is only 3" x 2". It has three carbide blocks in it, two .050 and one .100 block. I only live a couple of towns away from West Hartford and P&W blocks are pretty common around here...
My wife found another vise for me today at a garage sale. I think this is number 6. It is a Stanley Handyman 80-210 with the less common swivel base. I looked up the patent numbers on the base of the casting and it was patented in 1934.
I haven't been able to find much history on it and when...
I picked up this nice Craftsman "Yankee" screwdriver at a pawn shop today.
It is in near new condition. It is marked as made in West Germany. It is about 9.5" long. Any ideas on age?
I just bought this Starrett vise which I am getting ready for powder coating. Does anybody have a link which would show the correct color for this model?
I forgot to shoot a picture of the other side, I can post this later.
I never knew where the date stamp was even after restoring mine. Thanks.
My wife found this one at a tag sale for $1.00. I have exactly $201 in it after the powder coating, chrome plating, new jaws and the purchase price.
