    It's pine.....maybe cedar (I'd say 90% pine) this coming from a high school woodworking teacher of 32 years..... As someone said, Hardwood and softwood designation has nothing to do with how hard or soft a wood is. Hardwoods are from deciduous trees (trees which lose their leaves in the fall)...

    Is a wooden floor just a bad idea?

    Well, I can't vouch for anyone else, but I think it would make a great looking floor with character, for a woodworking shop.......but I don't think it's a good idea for a garage where you will park a car. Just me and my opinion.

    How much cleaning is required to do this successfully? Do I need to just blow it out or would it be better to use miratic acid or some other type of cleaner?
