Hi Y'all,
I was looking to buy an older Milwaukee USA shop vac when I can across a late 1980s Black & Decker industrial wet/dry vac, model #5438
I didn't know B&D made such vacs and seem every bit as good as the old Milwaukee vacs
Problem is I cant find filters or parts.
I've searched Google...
hello RTM,
I tried that and found a sheet dated Sept 1990, but I know mine is pre-1986
guessing it's hit or miss with this approach
thank you for the suggestion
Hi All,
I'm a newbie here, but a decades old lover of tools
I recently purchased some NOS Milwaukee power tools and interested to find the age.
One of these is an electric impact wrench having "Amstar" on the box and literature. The serial number is 656-67808
Wikipedia shows Amstar owned...
Update:
Folks, have a favor: if you have what I'm looking for, post photos in a reply HERE. I will ignore private messages pointing me to this person or that person who "has what you're looking for"....just have them provide pics to you to post here please. Too many well-intended folks trying...
Hi All,
Anyone out there know when the last of the Made in USA Craftsman 7" and 10" woodworking vises were made? Late 1970s ? Early 1980s? I had recently came into a red 10" made in Japan vise with an invoice date of 1983 on the box, so must be at least prior to 1983.
Are the grey painted...
Hi All,
Question for you Stanley experts out there.....
What's are the differences between the Made in USA #22 and #122 hatchet hammers?
Did one precede the other? Is one an upgrade to the other?
Appeciate anyone help on this. Thanks!
I didnt realize when I replied there was already a "Page 2" of this thread :)
NC Rick, thanks for the feedback about the Davies punches. Based on your reply, my understanding is Davies would be same or better than Mayhew Pro line, but still not up to the Mayhew 150 or Snap on line. But, do...
Hello again everyone,
Learned something interesting the other day.....
I called Mayhew to inquire about their products and learned all Armstrong punches and chisels are manufactured by Mayhew for at least the last 12 years before Armstrong was discontinued. Basically Armstrong is same as Mayhew...
Wow guys, having trouble keeping up with y'all! Thanks for the great info....Please keep it coming! Have to sign off, but will dive in again later. I like the Dasco mushrooming comment above...funny :)
Doesnt have to be a matched set. For example, was thinking of keeping the Davies 5pc chisel set, buying an Armstrong or Mayhew center punch + pin punch + drift pin set (such as Armstrong 70-550), and maybe getting a separate roll pin punch set. But dont want to keep the Davies chisel set if...
Thanks everyone, I appreciate the experience and feedback thus far. Neophyte, I was thinking the same thing...There's probably a lot of creative spin and miss-information/omission out there to get you to put an item in your cart.
For S-2 tools, so far looks like Meyhew 150 is best bang for the...
Hello to all,
I come seeking wisdom and experience :)…..
As part of my quest to assemble a collection of USA tools to keep and eventually pass on, I came upon a 5-pc set of Davies Tools Chisels shown in the pic below. This set intrigued me as I’d never seen this brand before, but what grabbed...
Hello Everyone,
I'm sure there's a thousand or more threads about this topic, so I'm sorry to add another one to the pile :)
I've started to collect older tools and was hoping some folks can help me pinpoint time frame they're from. I'll start out with this Cresent wrench. I'm guessing it's...
Thanks d42jeep! that info is awesome!!
I'm sure the answer was right in front of me, but how do you save these two catalogs off as a PDF to your computer? Do you have to first join and then buy those?
