Hi All,

I'm a newbie here, but a decades old lover of tools

I recently purchased some NOS Milwaukee power tools and interested to find the age.

One of these is an electric impact wrench having "Amstar" on the box and literature. The serial number is 656-67808
Wikipedia shows Amstar owned Milwaukee from 1976 to 1986, so I know it's at least that old. This serial number is different than the new Milwaukee s/n shown in the attached file. Anyone here have a decoder for the Amstar period?

I go into the Milwaukee downloads page, and they have pages that are segregated by tool type, then by model, then serial number. The parts sheets often have ages on them.

Here is an example for my Hole Hawg, got by googling

1675 milwaukee drill parts

Not sure how far back they go, unfortunately. Give you model number a stab

hello RTM,
I tried that and found a sheet dated Sept 1990, but I know mine is pre-1986
guessing it's hit or miss with this approach
thank you for the suggestion

I managed to work my way around to get all the Hole Hawg serial numbers, by jumping to the MKE site directly. I had 15 different sequences open for a while, trying to figure out my age by features, since the part number tag was removed.

I am looking to find out the age of this 1/2" Magnum drill. Serial no. 0532975499, cat.no. 0234-1. I'm guessing 1980's?
