    Corded vs cordless tools

There’s no doubt that corded tools are useful for sustained heavy duty use if you use them infrequently… but why would Milwaukee make a battery powered table saw or concrete saw, the are priced well beyond what most home handymen would consider paying, if there wasn’t a market and clear benefits...

The what if…. Thread (may help out younger members)

I’ve lived in three different countries over the years, and tools are really tough to relocate, particularly electric tools due to voltage difference… so I’ve started from scratch a couple of times… As a general rule, I buy the best quality I can justify, based on: (a) the amount of use I expect...

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

Yep, I ended up buying a second one! The other thing I did was replace the thin stamped wrenches with a couple of stubby wrenches… they fit nicely on the arbor and are more comfortable in the hand!

Sheldon Vernon #0 Horizontal Mill Questions

The last thanks was also meant for Maui for the Acme guys… I didn’t see the later post when I replied… Sounds like we’re in the same neighborhood… Rob Brannon is only 3 miles from my place! He was just a freak find while I was checking Yelp for machine shops… he didn’t even know he was on...

Sheldon Vernon #0 Horizontal Mill Questions

The guy actually dropped by today to take a look… he said it was a sweet little mill. He is going to see if he can find a nut that will work, but he has a method that will temporarily tighten the nut that he learned from an old timer, that could even work as a semi permanent fix. He’s coming...

Sheldon Vernon #0 Horizontal Mill Questions

Thanks for the detailed comments… everything was tight, and I snugged up the gibs, which fixed the slight lash in the other two axis. The bearings are good. The issue is the worn acme nut. I found a machine shop locally that specializes in machine repAir, so going to drop by and see if the...

Sheldon Vernon #0 Horizontal Mill Questions

anyone have any experience with these things? I just picked up a Sheldon Vernon #0 Horizontal Mill fitted with a Rusnok Vertical Mill Head… It needs a little TLC but seems in reasonable shape. Previous owner never used it as a horizontal mill, so my immediate focus is on the table for now, so...

    How long to clean/grind floor?

Sounds like you are not wanting to take a layer off the concrete, but just clean the surface contaminants off... Try a small area with a 4” angle grinder using a nylon pad (they are a bit more aggressive than a scotchbrite pad, but similar)... this will help determine how easy/difficult it is...

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

Mixed feedback... and I moved too quick for the offer... I already picked one up. Gotta say, it does seem a little heavy, but on the back it’s fine... the suction is awesome... specs seem way better than the other cordless vacs. I like the ease of emptying and the clear barrel. I actually...

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

Interested in feedback on the Backpack Vacuum??? I have been tossing up on it for a while... it just feels a little heavy to me. How does it feel in real use... worn on the back? Hand carried? How’s the suction? Is the filter clogging quickly? Need to decide before Buy More Save More ends!
