I thought a thread celebrating custom garage doors would be fun to see. We bought mdf blanks and faced off our garage doors with cedar. Show off your doors!

I would recommend a tung oil called Waterlox. It comes in satin and gloss finish. Do a couple coats of gloss and a couple in satin with light sanding in between. I would do all 6 sides for dimensional stability over time.

That is awesome! I'd love to see more recent pics of the progress. Nice to meet someone else who has had the pleasure of building and scribing around a tree! It's a thrill that can only be understood by having done it. It was a bucket list item for me.

Those will be coming soon. I am going to completely finish the inside, not leave the stud walls exposed, but actually build it out. I just yesterday after work finished up the last of the windows. A plexiglass triangle at the tree notch. And, still have to build the door. Then she'll be all...

Yes, one of the LED worklights that we use lights the space perfectly on its low setting. It is the Syslite made by Festool.

So about 8 weeks ago I started this tree house project. I had cleaned up the tree back in May of this year, and finally poured concrete the last week of August. Exterior is almost buttoned up. I was able to use up most of the old metal and wood I have been keeping around from previous projects...

As a painter, I am persnickity on this one. White white is too white, especially with shop lighting. In our shops, I have done more of a navajo white and brought in as much natural light as possible. I think it is important to soften it up a little. But it depends on how much time you spend...

Yup. These are from the original fit up. We integrated lots of the vintage lumber into the interior. These pics show the cabinet uppers, which are fixed. The lowers, other than the drafting table are castered and built from vintage materials as well (not shown here)
