Bought a couple new toys for the Barndo. Needed to fill some of its space up with some new jewelry! Pool coming soon so will update as that progresses.
Big Al, the kitchen itself is approx 18’X14’ and the island is a little over 6’X 8’. We quickly found out that the island is where everyone hangs out during the parties as it is where everyone drops off all the appetizers and alcohol!
In addition, the 6’X4” window is a awning style window that...
Thx for the comments!
If we can get through New Years and a trip to Austin next week I will come back and finish a couple rat killing items on the cabinets in the kitchen / baths.
From there, move on to the guest bedroom in the main house and the separate guest house below on the property. In...
Merry Xmas to all.
We got the final to move into the home in September of this year after a few years of building, working and traveling.
Been a fun project with many more projects to go such as additional guest room, guest house, pool and outdoor kitchen.
Pic of what we woke up to on...
Sam, the shop area for sure is my construction staging area. Constantly having to move stuff around and even more satisfying is installing components as to make room for both work and more material it seems. Outside of insulating the complete shop in spray foam along with throwing in a bunch of...
Sam, great minds think alike as the straight beam is being lifted above the drywall peak today to gain the headroom I need. In addition the the other slanted beam will be modified upward and re-welded with the approval of my Engineer. Once the final inspection is complete I will then determine...
Massive set of stairs going in. Bought the wood locally from a guy for cheap that came from some sort of burnt down mill in Oregon. Railroad washers and square head bolts to add to the rustic look yet will have stainless cabling for the railing for a modern contrast. Biggest issue I am having is...
With the Xmas tree!
We had about 75 people attend our annual xmas cocktail party and don’t think a single one of them did not comment on how much they loved the mural.
Fun watching people walk through the front door and gravitate toward the mural in awe!
Turned out awesome and matches the...
Bought the rights from the photographer and had an 8’X12’ mural made in black n white of a 1911 Baldwin 2-8-2 locomotive. Pic was taken in Tennessee and is called “Roaring out of the tunnel”.
Fits the style of the Industrial build perfectly and will get some sort of rustic frame with big...
Some drywall progress last week from the boys along with me spending the weekend starting the 5 ton HVAC and ducting install.
The platform is welded to the main 2nd story beam but still wants to slightly twist the beam with the weight of the unit. Installed a temporary strap for the heck of it...
For one reason or another Green board here is required no matter what you use on top of it. We will be using Hardie cement backer board on top of green board, then the adhesive/tile will adhere to it for a total of 1-1/4”. This is how we set the depth for shower and bath fixtures.
When I see...
Yes Toolfool, both showers have green board. Would not pass code inspection without. Not required elsewhere in the bathroom such as around the toilet and sink areas for some reason.
Finally getting some drywall hung. Slow going as these guys are busy working multiple jobs and only two guys at a time on my build.
Feels like I doubled the weight of the building just in piping, electrical wire, cat 6 cable and coax! Finally get to hide it so I don’t have to look at it anymore.
20 gauge metal studs going up for half bath, guest bath, master closet and bathroom. 14’ high ceilings so a huge look when standing within each.
A bit of a challenge with the half bath that goes from 14’ down to 4’ as to fit under the stairway above so trying to figure out the details of...
Here is a pic of the bottom of the plywood flooring with the faux paint. Came out pretty cool with a rustic look that matches the beams to a “T”. Very different look to it from morning to night due to the reflection of light.
