I suspect that the person who sold me the saw had a failed motor, replaced it with a used motor unknowing that it was wired for 220v and used it with limited success so he unloaded it on me for a price of $60. Actually, I'm pleased with the overall experience because he also threw in a router...
I was mistaken. There is a wiring diagram on one small corner of the Leeson nameplate. It is exactly the same as the ANSI standard. I opened up the motor this morning, checked the wiring, and it was wired for 220 volts! I rewired it for 110 volts and ran it briefly, successfully. Now I have to...
I'd like to do that, but without a wiring diagram I'd be at a loss to determine the voltage setup. Perhaps I will see if I can get a Leeson diagram when I have time.
Since the saw is ancient and probably has changed hands a few times, I'm guessing that the Leeson motor is not the original motor...
I recently bought a vintage Craftsman Model 113.298240 table saw that seemed to be in great shape. The Leeson 1 HP motor sounded very good, but when I started using the saw, it didn't have enough power to comfortably rip a 2 by 4. Since this seemed strange, I then bought and installed a used...
Hello - I have the opportunity to buy a vintage Makita Model 2711 table saw, with the sliding table top section. I see no other ads for this unique power tool. Do any of you have any experience or knowledge of its utility, durability etc, and a rough idea of its market value?
Thanks all for your helpful comments. I'm beginning to believe that my 3-wheel bandsaw is not appropriate for re-sawing, but I'll also check on blade tooth set.
I need some advice on a bandsaw problem. I bought a used Delta 16 inch bandsaw (Model 28-560) about a year ago. This a 3-wheel machine that is capable of sawing wood cross sections up to around 8 inches in height. I’ve used it successfully many times for different projects, but have been stymied...
I believe "sawbuck" is more correctly associated with a lumber frame used to hold logs for cutting. GJ member RTM says it's a buck saw, which is probably correct.
