    The modern/digital fabrication thread

Awesome thread idea! I'd love to have access to a good 3d scanner to reverse engineer some of my racecar parts easier. Following along

    In Praise of Midwest Snips

Midwest's are great! I still prefer my Malco MAX2000s though

    weld porosity issues

Interesting video, thank you C91x! My 211 has been welding like garbage as of late, and has started gassing out randomly as well. I still have the original nozzle on it since it appeared to be fine. I'll definitely change it out the next time I use the machine.

    Best retractable cord mount....

I second passing on Reelcraft. My work has hundreds of them (air and electrical) and my experience is the same. Every one of them that I've used failed to lock out easily.

    Roloc disc source

JAG, Empire, Heleta, Lehigh and Benchmark Abrasives are all good, quality suggestions. A word of warning though, I did have some 3" quick change mini flap discs from Benchmark delaminate and fly across the shop like missles. I had my angle grinder regulated well under 24,000 rpm limit also...

    Street Stock Rebuild

That's the way my Dad used to do it back in the day in his modified. Nowadays we run a Brinn, so no more fussing with broken cases and whatnot. Speaking of which, it's crazy what some of these lower divisions are spending on transmissions. $1000 for a 3 speed with cermaic bearings, $1500...

How do you cut steel in your shop

In order of frequently used in my weekend warrior race shop: 4x6 bandsaw - cut stock, rough shapes in thinner metals Angle grinder w/cutoff wheel - oddball cuts, thin metals, trimming Chinese plasma cutter - rough shapes in thick metal, demo Oxy/Acetylene torch - rough shapes in really thick...

    Epstein Day 2020

I was a couple days late ordering, but they still honored the discount. Thanks HJE! I didn't "need" anything really, but I like supporting good companies and people. 1st pic is the box art. I requested Joe Exotic holding some tools, but apparently one of the tigers ate him instead, :lol...

    Mail Order Parts Cutting

They have a great business model going. Instant quoting, large selection of materials, and quick turnaround. Price is a premium it appears though. A local shop worth a darn will do the same thing for most likely much much cheaper. I live in middle of nowhere Kansas and have utilized three...

Anyone have any $175-$200 codes? Of course I got one in the mail last week, but apparently threw it away

Switch for multiple machines on one outlet

I agree with Bert. I did just what he described on my HF welding cart. I made my own triple gang box with a 25' HD extension cord coming out of it that I plug into the wall outlet when in use. My MIG, TIG, and plasma cutter stay plugged into the box at all times. I'm only person, so can only...
