Anyone have a good source for quality 2" roloc discs? It's time to restock the garage and I no longer have a good source. Most of the ones I see on Amazon have at least a 10% 1 star rating for either being off center or having glue failures. I typically get 3M ones, but am open to others that will hold up as well.

I grab 3m ones at napa or oreillys. I think an Arnold motor supply carries them too. You'll probably have to ask for the bulk box. And then carefully walk the counterperson through the steps it takes to go to the back and look.

I try to plan ahead a look for deals on Norton or 3M on eBay. I've scored a few good deals on Norton Blaze, but I buy 3" so not sure about 2"

Check Heleta Abrasives. They are a lower line company but their flap wheels and cut off wheels actually have decent life and cutting action.

XJ: Oreilly's and NAPA were outrageous on their pricing...1.50 and 2.29 a disc....Zoro was not too bad at .82 per disc...

3M has a dizzying array of disc options - make sure you're comparing apples to apples when shopping around for the best deal. $1.50 for a Cubitron II is not too crazy of a price, especially if you are buying them individually. However, if they are charging $1.50 for a 361F, 963G, or 777F, that is 50-90% more than what you can probably find if you look around online.

I order the abrasives for our weld shop. It is worth the money to stick with the name brands like 3M, Norton, Walter, etc. I've demoed a lot of off-brand discs over the years looking for savings, but the lifespan just isn't there with a lot of them. At best, the lifespan matches the savings (half the price, half the life), but more often than not, the numbers don't add up.

I'd also add, McMaster-Carr has pretty fair pricing on their discs. Most of what they sell (or at least what I've bought) is Norton.

Abrasive Resource and Lehigh Valley Abrasives are my go to for these. Abrasive Resource is Starcke from Germany and Lehigh Valley I thing get their stuff from Italy. Both work fine.

BD: Yep, apples to apples comparison. We used to buy the discs in pallet lots at work. There were enough stock locations at the work stations that it took close to a half pallet to fill them!

I have’t tried the Cubitron series before. I’ll have to pull the data sheet and read it when I get a chance.

JAG, Empire, Heleta, Lehigh and Benchmark Abrasives are all good, quality suggestions.

A word of warning though, I did have some 3" quick change mini flap discs from Benchmark delaminate and fly across the shop like missles. I had my angle grinder regulated well under 24,000 rpm limit also. One time when it happened, it shot into the light fixture above me and a fluorescent bulb came crashing down on my head. I didn't get injured thankfully, but it sure scared me. I threw away all of the rest I had in stock and went with Lehighs. I've never had a single issue with any other BA product though.

Any of the industrial tooling places....PTS, MSC, Travers,etc.., will have them on sale occasionally. Mcmaster and Grainger too have them.

I never know how far into the weeds to go when something like this comes up - sounds like you've got a handle on it.

We run mostly 777F for our 2" discs, so I can't speak to how well the Cubitron II (982C) works for that application. I'll have to double-check, but I think the reason for that is because the 982C only comes in lower grits. We use the 982C's for our larger 5" and 7" discs, mostly in 36 and 60 grit. For that application, I've yet to find another disc that is as fast and as durable.
