What is minimum clearance for a high-lift garage door?

I am working on one right now, was going to go with the 3" but it's too tight for my door when it kicks in. I'll be at around 6" from the joist

    The Barn Project

Had another busy weekend and accomplished a bunch of stuff, all the rafter ends are now officially blocked.... all 80 of them. Not perfectly air tight but the draftiness is nearly gone. Debating either clear caulk or maybe foam around them, probably at a later date. Also got one garage door...

2 post limit switch wiring question

I would have to double check on mine, but I believe you break the black wires by your finger with the limit switch. i.e. undo that wire nut then each wire gets a leg of the limit switch wire so power goes through it until the circuit is broken. but yeah, check your manual to verify

Challenger SA10 Lift, Symmetric or Asymmetric? Also picking out anchors

Picked up a Challenger SA10 this last weekend and need to pick up some anchors to install it later this month. The manual doesn't specify a part number for the anchors, just they need to be 3/4" x 5.5" Also wondering if I should consider setting it up in the asymmetric configuration, the...

    The Barn Project

Busy weekend with the beautiful weather! My dad and I went and dismantled the lift, loaded, unloaded all by noon with a couple hours of travel on Saturday morning. Got to work and had the middle dormer all done by dark. Sunday had the last dormer done by noon and headed out to take the kids...

Love my trees, hate the Effin leaves!

I have two acres with maples, walnut, willow, oak, you name it. I picked up my agri-fab last fall for $350, for that price I had to.... no regrets However that stupid hose pops off and gets plugged unless the leaves are perfectly dry I picked up some elbows and made my own vacuum setup that the...

Flip up adapters on a Challenger lift

I am picking up a really nice challenger SA10 this coming weekend. A few of my friends have them and I really like these lifts. However a big one-up that Rotary has is the flip up adapters, my Snap On lift has flip up adapters and I really like them. Has anyone added flip up adapters to a...

    The Barn Project

We got back to work this weekend, one dormer is completely sided and painted! It took literally and entire day to get this thing done. Defintely the steep part of the learning curve. Luckily we used the first one as a template and have 80% of the boards cut and painted for the other two...

    The Barn Project

It's been another couple weeks since I worked on the barn, but today the power company is getting me hooked up! This weekend is supposed to be beautiful weather wise, so I plan to install my dormer windows and get started on the dormer siding, should be a real treat on the metal roof. I'll do...

    High lift door conversion

I am up against the same thing pretty soon here, I have two 10x10 doors. One will be regular lift and one will be high lift by about 2'. One thing is that the spools/drums will be slightly different and you may need new springs. I bought my doors used so it will be a little guessing game to...

    Replacing my Jeep clutch

That does seem high, shop around at your local independent guys and see where they come in price wise. First thing I did was look at your location lol, I would do something like this for a customer for around $600 labor and let them purchase the parts. It's not a bad job as long as you have a...
