So here is my 24x44 garage with gambrel trusses. 1000 sq' loft space above. After the 1st floor was completed the truss company dropped them right on to the subfloor. They are a 2 piece design with a nailing plate to join them. They are attached with a joist hanger lying horizontal for the...

Please help me figure out this HVAC wiring that is combined with fresh air intake

A more realistic price in Ontario is .16 to .18 kwh. With delivery, monthly fee etc. Sure my rate is around .08 to .09 kwh for my first 1000. But delivery alone doubles it. So my Nov invoice was $115 . I used about 650 kwh. The math is pretty simple.

Bought a Senville mini split... wish me luck!

Installed a senville 24 k a out 7 years ago in 1000 Sq ' loft space above my garage. Extremely well insulated gambrel design. Not the primary heat source. It heats and cools quite well . Below freezing heats well. Did the install myself. No issues.

Who makes the best whole house generators

My neighbor just replaced his only 12 yr old generac with Kohler. It sounds like a Mac truck very loud. I know, just finished running 8 days straight. We were in the path of that big storm that went through ontario. My neighbor on the other side just put in a Briggs and Stratton, nice and...

    Help me understand vapor barriers..

Vapour barrier always goes on the warm/ interior. Extra insulation on the exterior is fine too. It's still pretty standard here. Of course with closed cell spray foam, no need for vapour barrier, it provides it. Open cell foam, still needs a 6 mil vapour barrier. Recently this also what the...

    Help me understand vapor barriers..

As canuck said and a fellow canuck 6 mil vapour is standard code. Vapour barriers, 6 mil plastic is kinda a misnomer. It's not so much to stop vapour but vapour creation caused by air leakage. Warm interior walls and ceilings are sealed with 6 mil, tuck tape, caulking, spray foam etc...

Do circuit breakers in series need to be the same amperage?

After reading this entire thread I was thinking like everyone else, just keep it as you have it now. If your wire is 6cu, sure your 60 Amp breaker will protect everything. But in reverse what if someone sees the 100 Amp in the garage and thinks they have 2cu going out and replaces 60amp...

    Gutters on a Garage?

My 44' gambrel roof line garage i avoided gutters. I live in a very treed area. I have large overhangs. My slope away from the foundation is good. To avoid spashing from rain and melt, I put a generous layer of wood chips. (I chip my own). Also keeps it nice and clean an weed free. I do have a...
