What is the benefit of expensive tool chests?

No dog in this. I work as a business developer in the defense industry, not a pro mechanic, but I am an engineer and build high performance motorcycles in my home work shop. I have a Matco 6S and a large Lista at my house. Both are filled with high-end tools. Three different tool trucks stop...

    Replacing flex duct with rigid

The duct work in my house is shoty at best. Two years ago I had the entire heating and air system replaced EXCEPT the ductwork. Some band aids were done, but it was simply a cost issue. I am now in a position where I would like to finish this up and have all of the duct work replaced with the...

    Finally Broke a Snap-On Tool

Not wanting to turn this into a lube debate. It was a chaser. The parts were chased prior to handing over to the powder coater. The chaser screwed into most of the holes with just my fingers. This one was just a couple of tight spots. Was really surprised it broke. The Snap On guy ordered...

    Finally Broke a Snap-On Tool

Thanks for the offer. The shop I use it right here in town and does really good work, even stays late for me to get over to his shop after work. I am pretty sure he uses silicone plugs for the paint portion. I think in this case it was soda left over in the threads from the prep process. TP

    Finally Broke a Snap-On Tool

Broke this a couple nights ago. The piece is a harley lower rocker box that I just picked up from the powder coating shop. Was chasing the threads in the various threaded. WD40 was used to lube the tool and I was using a short 1/4" drive ratchet. Very little resistance was felt at the ratchet...

    broken tap extractor

Nitric Acid and some clay. Only works if the tap is in non-ferrous metal. Simply dissolves the tap. Another way if with some Alum and hot water on the stove. The Alum will also dissolve the tap.
