Not American made, but I use my 1.5 ton Pittsburgh floor jack for lifting garden tractors, cars, trailers etc... It's been used and abused for a lot of years and has held up. These are smaller than a typical floor jack and a mix of steel and aluminum so still light enough to throw in the back...

It's a valve spring compressor for overhead cam engines. The hook hooks over the cam and there is an adjustable fork shaped part that fits onto the valve spring. The handle on this one is adjustable to allow for clearance on various engines.
