1/2" plywood was most practical for me. Dealt with too much moisture-damaged OSB in my lifetime already. Drywall is for the house interiors, not a shop. That said, my laundry room is nicer with plywood.

I have the Canadian Tire version, and ordered a couple other cheapos from amazon, for work. I dont use them often or for high torque.

When you have an operable lift, one tends to lower the vehicle near the floor so you dont have to strain your back lifting the tires/wheels. Then either put it on the floor for final torque, or use a wheel chock. But I'm no licensed mechanic....

Feeding 120V to a 208v motor is certainly not ideal. A VFD isnt a transformer. Thankfully a drill press is a type of machine that runs mostly unloaded or lightly loaded. Watch the temperature and dont be surprised if it experiences a shortened life. I wouldnt run it on a GFCI at all.

Its very unusual for a neutral connection at a motor. Cap it off. Romex shouldnt be run directly/exposed to a motor. Stop at a JB on the nearest wall and transition to a suitable cable/cord/conduit. I'll leave the NEC particulars to others.

l feel like my shop build cost me a stupid amount of money. But property values skyrocketed well beyond expenditure so it didnt matter much. In hindsight, it was money well spent. It would cost ferociously more today, and even more red tape.

are you at 2post now, or no hoist? I bought a 4post first and discovered i didnt have room, nor could it tackle the type of lifting chores I needed (cab, box, camper, canopy lifting).
