    Stubby 14mm / 17mm hex keys

We cut down allen keys/tools at work all the time. Use a pipe handle for leverage. Can use a chunk in a matching-size socket, maybe a thru-drive style. There's no set or 3 that covers all the bases. We cant be disassembling half an engine to tighten a clamp or leak, over a tool clearance issue.

    Rebuilding my rotten detached shop!

I used 6" block and 2x6" sill to cover them over. Outer wall sheathing drops below the sill. If you are filling the block cores, then i dont see the need to widen the sill plate.

Hot water heater for the shop - exploring options

18kw is a substantial load. Do you have the headroom on your electrical service? I would do a tank heater. On a timer or switch.

    Cord reel for 100ft 12/3

One of my pet-peeves is cords that get coiled too tightly. Puts a nasty memory in the cord and increased tendency to not pay them out, and they heat up more. I still coil my cords by hand. Big arm-span loops. Same way normal people coil a garden hose.

    Garage Organization

I have built most of my major storage from dimensional lumber. Fit in a few mfr'ed shelving units and old kitchen cabinets to round it out - but even those are limiting and get shuffled out as i come up with something better. Post #3 shows a cantilever style I employ also. Usually room for a...

OSB vs Metal vs Pallet Walls

I put 1/2" plywood on the walls.. refuse to use OSB - too many bad experiences. Ceiling is still open. It will be white liner panels when done, but may strap it first as an easier way to retain insulation and VB.

1/2" Impact Sockets: Sunex vs Tekton vs Capri?

None of our Sunnex have Taiwan markings. Must be china. Not concerned. They are company/work tools.

Lean to options for new garage

My dual lean-to's are integral with the pimary roof line. Its actually one massive truss the whole way across.

    Welder purchase questions

At least get a 240V machine. Dual voltage is a nice extra for lighter use (sheetmetal). On that cheap amazon machine we use flux core only. (it is gas capable). It gets the job done.

    Welder purchase questions

if you can find a major brand 240V machine at a good price, go for it. We ended up with a cheap amazon mig at work due to the low price and our oddball 220V/50Hz electrical supply. Gosh its welded a lot of things in the past 4 years.

1/2" Impact Sockets: Sunex vs Tekton vs Capri?

I havent noticed that at all, but i'll check tmw for trivia's sake.

1/2" Impact Sockets: Sunex vs Tekton vs Capri?

Been ordering Sunex (via amazon) regularly at work when we need 1 or 2 of whatever size. Price talks and its strong enough - dont care where its made.

    What type of roof?

I went with DIY asphalt/fiberglas. I had the tools to make a go of it - nothing special. Standing-seam metal wasnt in my skill wheelhouse, and too costly to hire out.

    Air compressor circuit breaker size?

Thats a newer code item. Are you taking out a permit? Are you feeling the need to voluntarily re-vamp all the electrical in your home to the latest Code? (not required)

    Air compressor circuit breaker size?

The machine isnt rated for 5hp when it comes with a 15-20A factory cord plug.
