    build in enclosed space

A: Well only up to a point. Around the perimeter of the enclosed (1st floor) space I built stud walls between the 'poles' and they are connected. I will use the same system on the second floor perimeter. I was thinking that if I did ceiling first I could use interior walls to brace up some of...

    build in enclosed space

Thanks for your reply. I agree that I'm in over my depth here. I got up on the second level today and found 7'7" from the unfinished floor to the bottom of the truss. Subtract an inch for the carpet... This was the reason for wanting to put stringers between the trusses to support the dry wall...

    build in enclosed space

3 day BTT... The crowd seems pretty evenly divided on whether this might be a good idea. I found these old pix of the actual trusses from 24AUG13. I tried to get hold of the guy that did his work for his pinion but couldn't make contact. I'm not trying to jump off into this tomorrow... but I...

    build in enclosed space

Re: build in encolsed space The second floor is supported on 2x12 stock, with 1/2" sheathing. So I gave up some head room on both floors in favor of a solid second floor. The lower floor wall stud length is 87.5" + upper/lower plates. This is why I had hoped to tuck the upper floor rafters...

    build in enclosed space

Howdy! I'd like some opinions about hanging 2x4 rafters between my roof trusses to support the weight of sheet rock. The object here is to add a second floor living space inside my garage. The building is of pole barn construction, and measures at 60'x80' with 16' ceilings. The actual size of...

Anyone use Muriatic Acid to Flush Radiators...?

You might give Alouis radiator a call... 415.923.1446. Coupla blocks off Fell on Divisadro in 'da city. The old guy that did the repair work retired, but the equipment is still there. Ask'em if you can get it 'boiled and roded'.

    My garage plans

Howdy! I'm still a newbe here, but I thought I might come over and ask for input on my, rather crude, Skeck-up renderings of a shop/home I hope to have built this year. The over all foot print, not counting exterior porch/over hang. would be 60'x80'. There are very general, and not correctly...

    need links to shop plans

Howdy! I'm nearing retirement, and would like to build a 3,000 sq/ft shop space with second floor living quarters. I searched under 'metal building', 'pole barn' ect and chased a few links, but didn't really come up with anything yet. I have a few ideas of what I would like to do, but no wish to...

Interested in picking up #2524 short checker... Over the counter in the SF Bay Area would be great!

    Odd hammers

Thanks for all the replys. I have never herd of a "French Hammer". I thought #2 might have been a cobblers hammer, with the small end used to drive nails close to the inside of the heel. I'll have to see if I can find other examples. #4 still has me baffled also. I suppose it could be some sort...

    Odd hammers

Howdy! I picked up a few odd hammers recently. While I know there were may specialized tools for the trades I haven't been able to find out anything about these. Pic #1 is the group together Pic#2 may be the oddest of the lot. It has a 1" smooth square head on one end, and what I can only...
