You can absolutely damage struts (especially adjustable ones) by using an impact on them. That doesn't stop people though and I'd wager most people who have an impact available to them will use it. You just have to be careful and pay attention to what you're doing.

I use comfy mode to keep the garage between two temperature set points. Works great. Never have to touch it and the garage is always cool when I walk out there. Took some experimenting with temperature set points to get to where it wasn't running all the time.

Unless tekton has changed the shape and stampings of their impacts the past few years I'd pick something else. I know they're well liked on here but the 1/2" impacts I have are tapered only at the very end of the socket and I've run into multiple situations where the fat impact socket won't fit...
