Keep dirt and rocks out of the pipe and hammer down. I would clean the pipe where it goes into the bell end then glue it. I’ve seen very few underground installs that don’t have water in them!
In New York we use the “ from too’s” all the time. I have also used rigid couplings to m.c connectors with the appropriate r.e. A lot more expensive way to go about it however. Doing it on a school job right now, inspector is fine with it.
what are transmission fees per month by your power provider? Whats your panel like in the house? Do you have spaces free? Will your provider let you put a meter can under your over hang?
I would run the whole thing in pipe regardless of which option you choose. Yes it’s a little bit more...
Beautiful looking place! Also from New York here.
When you do your metal walls will your pipes be covered by the wall? If so I wouldnt use a lb. as the cover will no longer be accessible.
As for lights, keep that factory 18 awg. And yes wire nuts are fine, your going to need them anyways to...
Here in New York we are allowed to run our own underground as long as we want. provided the owner signs a voltage drop waiver form when the service is exceeding 300’. Nec requires 4/0 al for a 200 amp service. I personally wouldn’t worry about it if it’s less than 300’ total.
If it’s a over...
I ended up punching the meter can for 3” and also installed a 3” pvc ****** thru the back to the panel with ma’s. It’s tight, but it worked. I’m not really concerned with pulling 250’s 320’ in 3” pipe. I’ve done far worse pulls. as long as I can **** a string thru I think I’ll be alright.
im Working on doing my service to my garage. I’ve never done a residential service before. I’m fairly new to the trade but we do more commercial/industrial work. Looking for some input from the guys that have done a lot of residential work.
Here’s what I have so far:
200 amp service to garage...
Finally got it all sided, and now now that the weather broke I have been working on utilties. Septic and water are complete. Now I just have to get power up there!
Here’s a few pictures of the inside. Garage portion has 13’4” tall ceilings. And the second floor will be 12’ except for over the bedroom where I decided to put a small loft in. As you can see it’s a mess downstairs.
I’ve been lurking here for a while looking for ideas. Figured I should introduce my self. I’m still working on the exterior but I’m getting close. I’m a weekend warrior in upstate ny. I still have a ton to do!
