another 88 vs dual 80 post

I have both. I use both equally, however for really tight spots where swing is difficult the Matco is the go-to. That's the only advantage, and it is a slim one.

    Do you consider ASE's tools?

I'm about a week away from graduating my CC in the auto program, and I've been looking around at jobs in the area. Pretty much ALL dealerships want ASE certs to even fill out an application, and the small indy shops are junk paying nothing regardless of your intellect. I know some of the techs...

A man & his Snap On box

Our classes are very hands on. We average 4-6 weeks in class, and 12-10 weeks in shop working on personal, shop, or other student's cars. It's a very good learning enviroment, but the shop time does not count as much as the class time. We have similar graduation stats. We started the Fall of...

Thinking you guys may enjoy this...

I lurk this fourm alot, and rarely post. If this is in the wrong section, mods please feel free to move it. I'm copying and pasting this from my main forum, as alot of the guys there were asking tons of questions about getting into a auto tech program at their local community colleges. I...

A man & his Snap On box

That was a great thing you did helping that guy out, props to you. I'm about to graduate from the auto program at our local cc as well. We have a HUGE HUGE dropout rate, as most of the kids can't grasp the electrical. They all say "I grew up around cars, my dad was a mech., etc.". Yet hand them...

    My Snap-on Extreme Green KRSC31

I have the exact same cart in the exact same color. It's so horribly obnoxious. That's the main reason I chose it...lol.

    Snap-on got me again....

The OP beat me to it, but the Snap on, Matco, Gearwrench, and some other guy come out and give presentations. They also have toolboxes setup in the shop, hand out fliers and pricing. Our school has 15 bays, 12 with lifts, and in ground dyno and a full machine shop. EVERY machine and major tool...

    Snap-on got me again....

Same here. Most of the students I go to school with have damn near nothing or cheap HF stuff. I talked to my rep and he said out of about 100 students, only 5 of us have bought anything. I've been in the program for almost a year, and order about $400 a month in Snap on tools. I've been doing...

    Stickers :)

The Matco is mine, while the Snap On piece is a fellow students. It's a crappy cell phone pic, but you get the idea.

Need some buying advice on first set of tools...

This is gospel. As a student, I get amazing deals from SO and Matco. The very first purchase I made was a Matco tool box. I wanted something large and secure to store my tools in. You don't buy a TV, fridge, and carpet before you buy a house do you? Buy something weekly, even if it's...

    Snap-On dealer taking a loss . . .

When at Circuit City, we had a fantastic truck guy. All of us bought smaller hand tools, pick sets, weird little pliers, etc. I made sure everyone paid the guy everyweek, no matter how small. Before we started closing the doors for the last week, I had ordered a small pair of unusual...

    Is this a Snao-On box?

Looking to pick this up, but the seller seems unsure of what he has. It looks like a very old Snap-On top box a fellow student has. Thanks for any input.
