Interior Trim Removal Tools

Hey all,

I need to replace the nav unit on a Prius so I am looking for some plastic pry bars, or some sort of non-scratch pry tool to remove the dashboard and panels adjacent to the center stack.

I think I need something like this:

But someone said I also need this KD tools kit. However, I can't tell from the picture if those metal pry tools are coated to prevent one from damaging the flimsy dash pieces:

I have the OTC kit and use it at work. Has held up well and so far the damage done has been slight if any. The metal ones will scratch and ding things

These are probably the same as the OTC ones, just a smaller set.
On the KD set.No those are not coated with anything. You don't want to use these on anything that is easily visible, like your dash. That is a good door panel removal set. I'm sure those plastic tools will do exactly what you need them to.

The trick with trim is knowing how it releases, so best ask a few questions in a model or brand specific forum for that car. Mostly HF, I have a plastic shoebox full of just trim tools of slightly different types. Lisle also makes some nice trim tools.

There is lots of good advice in there about just about every type of trim tools.

Each type of trim tool has it's purpose. But the plastic ones from HF and other companies get the majority of work done for a great price.
