    Masking parts for vibratory tumbling.

The hot glue seems like a good idea... idk why I didn't think of that. The de-rusting solution I was using ended up making a decently even finish so I just tried it without the tumbling and it seemed to work well, but I will try hot glue next time.

    Masking parts for vibratory tumbling.

I'm rebuilding a ratchet wrench right now, and I want to get an even surface finish before applying a phosphate conversion coating ('Parkerizing'). I don't have sandblasting equipment so, I;'m using a vibratory tumbler, but I don't want grit to get caught in the ball detent. In the past, I've...

    Trimont Mfg. Co.

Just finished restoring this 6" wrench. It was rusty and forgotten at my work. I tried rust bluing on the main body, and I'm pretty happy with the results for my first time trying that process. I coated it with a thin layer of tung oil and baked it on. The nut and nut guard were heated with a...

    Show Your Vintage Utica Tools!

I'm not entirely sure if it's the same Utica as the other tools here, but I found these 21-6 round nose pliers in a scrap metal dumpster today. The handles are marked 'USN' and 'AIR', which makes me think they're possibly military, but I'm not sure why'd they'd be in dumpster behind a...

Yankee Screwdriver No. 33H chuck/bit holder disassembly.

I was disassembling/restoring an old Yankee No 33H push screwdriver, and I ended up breaking the chuck. I was able to remove it from the shaft itself (it was just a press fit), but I couldn't get the collar itself apart. I thought it must also be press fit (I didn't see any other way it would go...
