What should I do? 10 SEER A/C refuses to die.

Given the wind-down of R-410a and the switchover to A2L refrigerants (R-32 & R-454b) currently taking place, I'm hesitant to make any changes until the dust settles on issues with the new refrigerants. I still have a 5-ton R-22 system and hope it will last at least a few more years. If I...

    What is this tool?

Found this in an old toolbox. It's about 8 to 10 inches end-to-end. The light brown portions appear to be leather. Any ideas what it might be?

    River rock instead of lawn?

I'm in your area (TX) and I've been switching from lawn to rocks over the past several years. A few things I've learned are, I get more weeds in small rocks (pebbles) than bigger rocks (river rock or egg rock) I prefer a variety of rock sizes and textures in different areas, including mulched...

    What your Dad taught you,

Lot's of good stuff in this thread but when my daughter recently said, “…well, you never taught be about that”, I quickly adjusted my feelings about what my dad “taught me about, or didn't”. Common sense should not require teaching. In retrospect, my dad taught me to do for myself and think...

    Toolbox in kitchen

Today I replaced a circa 1985 trash compactor that I've never used with a HF side box. Should have done it years ago.

Innovative ways of storing a 12” mitre saw

I've tried a few different storage solutions over the years but having to lift and tote it around gets old. Now I keep it on an old AV cart w/locking casters, and roll it out of the way when not in use.

How would your jobsite handle this (tool damage)

If it were at my place of employment and you came to me with this problem, over a hammer that you left unattended from morning until the end of the day, I might question your judgement more than anything else. Not trying to be harsh, but I'd feel like a babysitter. In your shoes, I think I'd...

    Sound proofing from traffic noise.

This is an interesting thread. Thanks OP. Do better windows do a good job eliminating the vibrations from today's super-powerful subwoofers in some cars & trucks? They can sometimes shake an entire house, and the low frequency sound travels better than most traffic noise, I think.

    Fire Pit suggestions

I've had both "permanent" fire pits made of concrete/stone, and metal "portable" fire pits. I prefer the portable versions, which I can store out-of-the-way during off-season, and not have to walk around the pit or keep bugs & critters out during the off-season.

Fencetop was likely a killer when she arrived - lost and hungry, But it wasn't long before she became accustomed to the cushy life of a spoiled cat,
