I agree that bowl vent is present on all early Ford versions of the Holley 4160, that is one way of spotting an older one. What I am still asking about is the brass tube that runs parallel and just below the normal aluminum balance tube connecting the front and rear bowls. Walt

Thanks Tommy, now I know what it is and usage. I paid $10, but not really interested in selling it unless someone really needs it. Very likely no demand for 1958/58 Lincoln service carb! Anyone know why it has that extra brass tube? Walt

Top view. That Primary Bowl vent and lever mechanism, and the non-electric choke cap hint that this is an early Holley carb.

You can see that that boss on the center of the throttle body has been machined flat on top to provide clearance for the brass tube. It sure looks like this carb is original and Holley put that brass tube there for some reason.

Clearly this is a 1850 list#. So why was this tube used, what is purpose?
