    welding pinholes in sheetmetal,TIG?

The manganese content of ER70S-6 wire is high enough to make MIG welds very difficult to planish compared to TIG welds. The rapid cooling rate of MIG overlapping spot welds makes the weld very hard, while the much slower cooling rate of TIG allows the welds to be soft enough to planish. EZ Grind...

    Welding rods

The 5P and Fleetweld 37 are cellulose coated, not low hydrogen, so they should be fine. Those actually need moisture to keep the coating from flaking off and should never be stored in an oven or hotbox. The E308-16 stainless rods and Jetweld 70 are both low hydrogen electrodes and will not...

    What's the minimum stud spacing for a 12 x 12 storage shed?

"Well, sir, the Garage Journal Boys have been steeped in ol' timey material. Heck, we're silly with it!"

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I learned that lesson on our 2015 Expedition - always use the OEM pads. I tried multiple "low dust" pads, including PowerStop pads and rotors. None performed as well or lasted as long as the OEM pads and rotors.

Replacing a Micro-USB Charger Port? Altec Lansing Jacket H2O IMW448N-BLK-WM

I have pretty much the same issue with the charging port on my Samsung phone. I was able to pickup a repair kit on Amazon that includes tools, instructions and the charging port board for $12.99. I haven't installed it yet, but hope to learn some tips from this thread.

    DIY/Wood Car Stands(Cribbing)...Let's see them!

Yeah, I know. But the blocks are brand new and they haven't been tossed around or seen any kind of movement or impact since the car was set on them.

    DIY/Wood Car Stands(Cribbing)...Let's see them!

Wife's 1976 Cobra II. She's had it since we got married in 1978 and it's time for a new engine, trans, paint and suspension refresh. Slowly getting there, about ready to paint the engine compartment and start going back together.

    DIY/Wood Car Stands(Cribbing)...Let's see them!

On my project car I'm currently using concrete blocks (oriented in the proper direction) with a 2 x 12 on top to spread the load. Height is about 9 1/2" and is working out ok so far. It was a little tight removing the transmission, but it came out the front with the engine already removed. It...

    Welding thin metal

The problem with silver braze is heat. It has to be heated to 1150-1250°F or so to flow properly, and that much heat will destroy any heat treatment properties of the alloy steel. Same with welding, but at least the heat affected zone is not so large.

1/2" vs 3/4" air lines. Any regrets?

I think you'll be happy with either size. Going with 3/4" will provide more surface area for heat dissipation, so you might go with that if the additional cost is not an issue. I used 3/4" copper run around the shop with 1/2" drops and have been pleased with it.

    Welding thin metal

1/16", or even 3/64", E6013 could work with overlapping spot welds on something this small. Use a copper or brass bar against it to pull some of the heat away and provide a backer to build up the weld so it can be filed to size. If you had TIG capability, 0.023" or 0.035" MIG wire can be used as...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

This explains an issue with a relatives 77 Corvette that I encountered last year. I may help him connect a relay to it next time we're at his house. I guess the feed wire comes from the Batt terminal on the starter to the relay then S terminal and the trigger is from the ignition switch to the...

Sounds like it may have been discontinued. You might try calling Harris back with the part numbers in the pic below.
