New bench surface looks and performs great!

Pine. It's a very low buck project. The stain/varnish is so dark you can hardly see the grain: Contact cement. It comes in a 36'' wide roll and is sold by the foot (+/- 9$CDN) The problem with ribbed material is that it's hard to sweep, as the dust and chips will tend to follow the...

New bench surface looks and performs great!

I finally finished my new bench's surface. I'm using a commercial floor covering, made of chemical resistant rubber: It's very easy to clean. An added benefit is that the texture keeps small (carburator) parts from rolling around and the contrast in color makes little items easy to find...

Re: o/t, yet TOTALLY garage related - my new pool room... (this is a re-post from the HAMB) I havent been around much, lately. The '53 is hibernating. Work, family take precedent... You know how it is... Here's a neat story, though: A few months ago, my wife sent pics of my vintage...

    A new work bench thread!!!

This stuff, it's a very popular commercial option: Sometimes late at night, I 'gloss-it-up' with Armor All and lay freshly chromed or polished items on the workbench. Then I just stand there and stare...:)

    A new work bench thread!!!

Ryan, I purchase this VERY handy 'pocket hole jig' kit for 50$: With a miter saw, standard dimensional lumber and this jig, you can build VERY strong, square frames in minutes. Put on a plaid shirt and you feel like Norm Abrams... Basically, the 'structural' part of the cabinets are bought...

    A new work bench thread!!!

I used a relatively fast and inexpensive method to build my cabinets. I start with basic, 'Home Hardware' offerings in standard sizes. A tremendous help, as they go up in a flash and can be used right away... Then 'dress up' the base cabinets with simple, screwed-on pocket-joined framing...

Have a question about garage door

Bonjour Franck, bienvenue au 'Journal du Garage'. I have a 16' wide door in my 22' X 24' garage and it'll **** that warm air right out, in about half a second... :( When it's time to replace it, I'll probably split that opening and go with 2 doors. Just my 2 cent's worth... whizzerick Montreal

Plans for my garage's main wall...

    - Ryan, the stuff runs about 75© to 1$ a square foot (for the thinest profile), not bad at all... - Sully, I'm speachless, man. That garage is NICE!

Can garage door tracks be raised up?

One more thing. That 'dummy' panel could be fabricated out of anything, right?

Can garage door tracks be raised up?

JohnZ, that is exactly what I want to do, thanks for the pic, man!

Can garage door tracks be raised up?

My ceiling is 11'4'' high. When I open the garage door, there is a 4' loss of space between the door and ceiling. The track height also forbids the use of a 4 post lift. Could the garage door tracks be made to go up to the ceiling (or close to it)? Is this common or is it a stupid...

Plans for my garage's main wall...

The M&S I restored about 10 years ago, the paint has weathered and it actually looks BETTER now! When I found the visible, it was disguised as a lamp post with an electrical mosquito 'buzzer' on top... As it sits, now. I do have the intact, original 'Corning' glass cylinder! This is the...

Plans for my garage's main wall...

Dont worry, Phil. I've done it before (in the old house) and it looks great! In this case, the Oxblood color will match the house's exterior trim (redish copper roofing). Darn I sound like Martha Stewart! :)
