SBD Craftsman Iconic Ratchet CMMT44808 availability status

Been a part of this forum for 2+ years, though not a very active member. Yes, I did screw up in my first post but corrected it by posting in the classified section. It's not my first time posting in the classifieds, though not too active there either. This forum is great for the info and the...

    Craftsman Asian Ratchet Quality???

I, like my father, am an old school Craftsman fan. I've got a bunch of the older 32 and 36 tooth ratchets, even some 24 tooth 3/8" drive, and they all work fine, no issues whatsoever. I do take care of them, taken apart from time to time cleaned and lubed. Some I've rebuilt with new USA made...

    Craftsman Ratchet Rebuild

FYI, the 44809 and the 44814 are the same internally. I believe the 44814 was considered their upper end professional model.

If you're in need of just the gear to fix your ratchet, I have several used ones in great mechanical shape. If you send me your address, I'll mail you one.

    Craftsman Ratchet ID

From top to bottom they appear to be a 444811-standard ratchet, a 44808-long ratchet, and the other 2 are 44809 1/2" drive ratchets.

If it needs to be rebuilt the kit number is 43447. Usually, they just need a good cleaning and some quality lube.

Craftsman MAX AXESS--Can The 3/8 Ratchets Be Rebuilt?

My pass thru ratchet, Craftsman 29308, failed but I was able to utilize some parts from an Asian kit for the 44995 thin profile ratchets to make it workable again. They want upwards of $80-90 bucks just for the ratchet on Ebay, the kit was $15.00 bucks.

    Craftsman Ratchet Rebuild

I'm old school and love the older ratchets. They don't have the teeth count but they are more durable IMO. The newer ones are hit and miss when it comes to quality. The Craftsman CMMT81748-49 series ratchets, for example, don't have great reviews overall. The current V series ratchets are nice.

It's either a 44975 or a 44985 type ratchet. Built like tanks. The ratchet looks to have been rebuilt in that the socket anvil has a push pin indicating Chinese origin. Does yours have the oil port on the head?

    The Craftsman 44985 Ratchet

I have several of this pattern in all drives, 1/4-3/8-1/2 inch and love them all. Even though they have less teeth than modern ones they are certainly stouter and can handle more torque. When checking reviews on the current 1/2" drive CMMT81749, almost 1/3 are bad. Even worse is the 3/8" drive...
