Hello everyone! I am getting my garage ready for the painters. I need to replace a lot of the T 1-11 siding because of about 3" of dry rot on the bottom. I want to just replace the bottom portion instead of replacing the whole sheet. This is mostly because I am doing the work myself and the...
:dunno: Still unsure. But I think if I keep things above the beam, it should be good. I just need someone to warn me otherwise.
Oh no. I walk around up there often and have jumped up and down right above the beam. It doesnt make a sound. I havent jumped around away from the beam...dont...
Thanks for the resources, but I have no idea how to fill in those fields. :(
The previous owner also installed water and sewage to the detached garage. Maybe they were thinking of living space up there? No idea. When you say "unusual", is that because it is overbuilt or underbuilt?
I wont...
Hi there.
I know I can probably get the best answer from whoever designed the garage or from a structural engineer visiting my garage, but I kinda wanted a quick and dirty answer. I do have the plans to this garage somewhere. The previous owners left them here somewhere.
Anyways, the...
Thanks for the input everyone. I am definitely learning a lot as I go.
What would be the best thing for me to do next? Should I call some electricians to price out a new breaker box and dedicate a run to the new tank less location? Then call my faultily company asking about dropping more...
Are you saying that my main disconnect is showing that I have 100a into my house and garage?
Does that mean, that without anything else at my residence, I wouldnt be able to run the RTE 27 http://www.rheem.com/documents/rte-27-spec-sheet?
That is asking for 240v 112a max.
That is what I am figuring. But if my main is 2x100a, the one going to the garage is also a 2x100a, what is going on?
I am afraid to ask...what you all are seeing...is that safe?
I dont know much about electrical things and not even 3 years into home ownership, so I am still much a noob in this aspect. But I wanted to know what are some things I can do to find out what type of electrical service is coming into my residence?
Is this something my utility company can tell...
Ya. The one I would want also requires 2x60a.
I just looked at my break boxes to see what kind of service I have and I have no idea what I am looking at. Maybe I should start a new thread asking for this help.
I will not be installing the water heater myself. I can sweat pipes, but I dont not feel good messing with gas. I do have a CO detector in the house. I have a gas dryer already in the laundry room.
But after reading some comments, I am researching some electrical tankless units right now.
The location makes it close to the laundry room, bathroom and kitchen. But ya, it makes it really ugly out there.
I live in Oakland. During our "severe winters", we probably get 2-3 nights when it drops to the low 30s.
You make a good point about it being ugly and the added costs. I also...
Hey everyone. Just some background information. I live in a home built in the 1940s. The gas water heater is in the house right in front of my room. It is very ugly and I am sure not the safest thing in the world. So I want to move it outside for those reasons. I cant afford a tankless...
Re: what did you do in your garage today?
Pretty much the first time doing something like this. I was inspired, well pretty much strongly encouraged, to build this after finding this $2000 shelf that I really liked.
Granted I am not much of a handy person, I didnt want to buy expensive wood...
