220v outlets Electrician quote - reasonable?

Thank you all SO much. Did not expect this kind of response! I think I'm going to look into DIY'ing this with a new panel and see how the cost of parts vs. parts & labor looks. If anyone could recommend a quality panel brand, I'd greatly appreciate it please. Answers to questions below: It's...

Need more light but not sure where to start.

Thanks all, this is a big help. Would anyone have an opinion on LED vs. flourescent lights? Lowes had one LED bar, and it did seem noticably brighter than the flourescents next to it. Cost was a little higher but comparable to a 4 tube flourescent.

Need more light but not sure where to start.

Thank you guys. I checked my breaker box and it seems to be full, no blanking plates or empty spaces. If I were to remove the two screw in fittings from the ceiling, and wire in dual or quad t8 bar lights in their place, would I need to do anything else electrically or is that a direct...

Need more light but not sure where to start.

I have a ~750 square foot single story 3 car garage which I am trying to light. Right now, it has two screw-in bulb fittings (100w max) on the ceiling, two double outlets on the ceiling (garage door openers are plugged into one socket on each outlet). It also has two exterior lights (60w max)...

Thanks again guys. I am a bit concerned about a window unit and the homeowner's association rules. My garage is the closest point to the street at the front of the house, with both windows facing the street. Theft of the ac unit/access to the garage is also a bit of a worry with that. The...

Miserably hot garage, fan's not cutting it. Where do I start?

Wow, thanks for all the advice guys, that's a huge help. To answer a couple of questions - the distance between the flat ceiling (drywall, finished) and the garage floor is about 10 feet. I'd also be interested to know how this affects things. As for my fan placement, I had the big garage door...

Miserably hot garage, fan's not cutting it. Where do I start?

About a year ago we moved into a house with a fairly decent size garage (approximately 690 square feet). It's been our first place with a garage vs. street parking, and it's been very nice having the extra space. However, I've very quickly found that it gets unbearably hot out there, well into...
