    Stahlwille SF20/8 Offset Double-Ended Ring Spanner Set, Metric, 8 Pieces - $66

Just an aside, I wish Gearwrench would make a 3 or 4 inch lateral offsetter (driven by internal spur gears) so that their pass through sockets could do long nut runs on threaded rod without an inprovised long socket…

Wiha daily deal on Ultra Driver 50% off

I noticed some surprising deformation on a wiha PH2 bit the other day, after just using it to run in some hardware store wood screws. I was using a drill driver and may have popped out a little, but I was surprised, nothing violent had happened.

I've Got Zipper Burn! New Welder On The Way.

Congratulations on the new machine. At the other end of the spectrum, I just ordered an Everlast PowerArc 161 STH. Time has finally come to start stick welding in the driveway, making angle iron shelves and stuff.

    Yost ADI-5 at Amazon.

The ADI is austempered ductile iron. It’s been used in the automotive world for years, iirc, for smaller components. Better process controls, automations, sensors, etc, now allow the austempering process to be reliably applied to large, heavy components like vise castings. Basically, its the...

    Amazon warehouse deals Permathread

Interesting. It doesn’t scream quality to me, but the lathes and hinges in the blow mold case look well above Harbor Freight Pittsburgh Pro grade. If Apex is adding a lower priced brand, it would be nice to see a detailed review! Edit— replying to another specific thing about this “Sata”...

    Amazon warehouse deals Permathread

Grabbed ‘em. A few years ago I had the earlier version, without the hex bolster. I liked them so much I ordered them as Christmas presents and wound up giving away my original set in the process. I’ve got lots of nice screwdrivers at this point, but there’s nothing quite like those squishy...

    Yost Forged Vise Price Drop

Not sure, how can I tell? I took a few pictures of the jaws, attached. Both the pipe jaws and the main jaws are held on by screws. I also measure the handle. It’s 17mm in diameter and 25cm in length, so over 5/8” by about 10”.

    Yost Forged Vise Price Drop

Mine just arrived from Walmart.com. It’s the ADI-6, and it *does* have adjustable gibs!

    Yost Forged Vise Price Drop

Amazing! These vises were already champs at 90,000 psi forged steel, and now they’ve got “Austempered Ductile Iron” with a quoted strength of 130,000 psi. Amazon seems to be out of FSV-6/ADI-6, but Walmart has the FSV-6 for $156 shipped...

Mine too. But my 8pc metric reversible wrench set is from China. That said, I’m pleasantly surprised by the rack/tray that it came in. Its one of those ones with the demo built in, so I didn’t expect much, but the retention is actually pretty nice and there’s a fair amount of meat there, so I’ll...

I re-ordered the metric flex sockets, this time for store pickup (fairly nearby for me), and picked them up last night. Glad I did. Very nice set.

50% off select Gearwrench Sets Advance Auto Parts

Two good reasons, as far as I understand it: - you’re less likely to round off a big nut, because there’s more meat there and also because the socket broach can be closer to the ideal shape than a smaller socket, where the thousandths of inches of machining tolerance are a bigger fraction of...

50% off select Gearwrench Sets Advance Auto Parts

I just got an email canceling my $20 10-piece metric flex sockets. I wonder if they're canceling everyone's. The $20 price is still up on the website, so it might make sense to try and get them from your local brick-and-mortar.
